I know many of you are excited about the Magic probably going to the West Coast but in this household and several others we are very disappointed. My parents were going to celebrate their 50th anniversary on the Magic Carribean cruise in 2005 and many family and friends were going to sail with us. My parents can't make the trip to Ca. And some family who have never sailed wanted to sail the Carribean for their first cruise. If they were moving the Magic they still should have continued some 7 day Carribean cruises and kept everybody happy. Just had to vent! Happy sailing to everyone.

Unless you really want to visit the islands...

Back to back on the Wonder... two visits to CC...think about it....

w e did think about the Wonder and doing back to back cruises. It would be too much for my parents to get off and then on again. And visiting the islands was an important part. A seven day would also have the formal nights in which all of us were getting dressed up for the celebration. Oh well as they say best laid plans of mice and men....

I don't think you are alone in how you feel. It would be nice if they did the 3, then 4 and then a 7 day on the Wonder but I doubt that will happen. You should try another line. Disney is great but it isn't the only cruiseline out there. Other lines even have lower rates and if you get a good TA, and your group is large enough you may even get a price break for the rooms. I have cruised on Celebrity, Carnival, Princess and Disney. Don't give up on your idea, it sounds like a grand one that maybe Disney just won't make any money off of. Kathy

I feel you pain. As I have posted many times here over the course of all this waiting, I had hoped to do our first 7 day for our 10th anniversary in the summer of 2005. But Disney has other plans. Instead we moved our cruise up a bit to October. Id rather not take the kids out of school, but its only 4 days and now the trip is alot cheaper than it would have been in July. :D
Hope things work out well for you too.

I agree completely. We were planning on celebrating our 25th anniversary on a 7 day Disney cruise but we don't want to go to California. Our daughters (19 and 21) also want Disney. May go for the 3/4 land/sea which we have done before. But I really wanted 7 days on the Magic.

Don't mind going to California...just don't want to do the Mexican Riviera.

I guess it will be either RCCL, Princess or Carnival for us for June 2005 (That's IF the Magic goes West Coast).

We had also planned a big group cruise and have been on a waitlist for suites for 2 years. Now we will try another line--hate too since we are such disney fans and have love our other cruises. I agree they should have offered some 7 day too. Considered the back to back wonder, but same entertainment and down time for boarding didn't work for us

I'm disappointed too. I was hoping to do a 7 night cruise next summer. Oh well, I guess we'll just have to find a non-disney vacation for next year (ooh, that sounds a little scary :( )

Not to hurt anyone's feelings, but us west coasters have been having to fly across country for 6 years to sail on the Magic and Wonder.
IF the west coast thing happens, it's just for a few months.
Wouldn't it be more fair to have the ship here in the west half the year, and the east the other half?????
:bounce: Just asking?

Fair? Sure, but that doesn't alleviate the disappointment east coaters are feeling (as we do the happy cruise dance here in Calif.). But they will get their ship back, we promise ;)

Oh, and the "newest" rumor is that summer 2006 might see the temporary move of a ship back to LA. And hopefully by summer 2007 a 3rd ship could be in service & prevent the moving of the Wonder or Magic.

Hi TV Guy and Ivanova :wave2:

I'd love it to have more Disney in our Golden State, but as a Californian can you honestly say you'd be excited about a cruise to the Mexican Rivera? Being on the Magic is exciting of course, but as a destination are you looking forward to spending time in these ports? IMHO, it just doesn't compare with the Caribbean as a destination.

Sadly, I've come to accept that I'm going to be on a plane to Hawaii or Florida/Caribbean for 5 hours to take all my vacations. Even my favorite ship won't entice me to cruise the west coast of Mexico.

Well, we did the Bahamas ... only got off the ship in Castaway Cay ... figure we'd do the same thing for the Mexican Riviera :) Haven't done the Carribean yet, but imagine I would get off at Carribean ports ;)

Now for summer 2005 I'm wishing for a repositioning cruise :hyper:

I am really happy that the ship is headed to California next summer. I have always wanted to do the Carribean Disney Cruise. But my husband is, well...Shall I say, "Disney Challenged". We've never been on any cruises and my husband has spoke to a few people who said they didn't like cruising. So as much as I've tried to convince him, the answer has pretty much always been that for the cost of a 4 day cruise & airfare, we can spend a little over a week at the park. We have two children. He feels the WDW vacation is more of a guarenteed good vacation.
I was amazed when my husband said yes to a cruise out here. No airfare and no hotels to stay in before or after we dock seemed to win him over quickly.

So I'm crossing my fingers that we'll have a great time on the Mexico Cruise. Then I can convince him that we'll have even a better time on Carribean Cruise.::yes::

My husband was luke warm to last year's cruise (our first) --- but he's itchin' to cruise through the Panama Canal, so the repositioning cruise would be awesome.

I agree about Mexico, although I've only been there once, and not on a cruise. Feel the same way about St. Thomas too, I'm afraid, and I've been there 6 times. Our family goes for the ship experience and days at sea as much as the ports.
Although, the concept of a western version of Castaway Cay in Baja might not be so bad.
