But then Disney is booking all of these bounce back deals, offering 30% off if you book your next trip before you leave, having you come back within the year. Alot of people are taking advantage of that, as well as the codes and AP discounts, so that makes the available rack rate rooms fewer, so they can charge a premium price for them. They are still filling thier resorts, and even though they are giving out many discounts, and even though they will lose
some rack rate customers, I think they will still bring in a bigger profit this way. Not giving out an AP rate on weekends is just lining their pockets, because let's face it, you almost have to stay the weekends if you are planning a trip, and won't you pay for those Fri and Sat nights regardless of the discount or not? Like a previous poster said, you can get a 5 bedroom villa for that price, but people know all of the conveniences of staying on property, so they won't. It's like they showed us their wonderful world, made us think there was no other way to do it, got us hooked, and now we'll pay for it regardless.
Mind you, I am one of these code people, I only get to go once every two years, and can't go if I don't have a code. If you want better prices, go to WDW's website, and set up your account with your next planned Disney trip dates, or maybe even later than you planned for. I did this after our last trip, and every few months, they sent me an email or postcard saying "_____ family, come to Disneyworld sooner than you planned, here's a discount code". Never did get to go earlier, but I got 4 offers in 2007 alone, and the last one that I booked with was even better than I expected. I got the room discount and ticket upgrade, but in the email I got a 25% off Southwest flight discount code too, so our family of 4 is flying from Dallas to Orlando for $540 roundtrip incl. all taxes. So when we get home after our trip in 25 days, I'll be updating my profile on Disney's website for our next trip dates of 2 years and see how hard they try to get my business early again
