I know things can change, but I was really bummed to read that PoC and Blue Bayou will be closed for rehab from 4/28 to 5/29 of next year. I missed Pirates on my first and only DL trip in 98 and I'd hate to miss it again.

We were planning on going from 5/17 to 5/26 next year.

Do these month-long rehabs ever end early?

If we pushed our trip back a week, how busy is DL (and other parks like Knotts, USH, etc) the week after Memorial Day compared to the week before Memorial Day. I'm guessing the weekend is pretty busy, but what about during the week?

If you really want to see it I would push my trip back a few days. I just pushed my trip from Sep to Dec because of all the rides closed. The deal braker with me was Haunted Mansion. No way could I go and have THAT closed. You never know it will last the whole month closed but why chanse it. As far as the crowds I never went at that time but if you go before school gets out I would imagine the weekdays would be ok.

I was at DLR just this past May the week following Memorial Day. The crowds weren't too bad in Disneyland until Saturday, and DCA was practically a ghost town even on Saturday. Of course, I had an unusual situation in that I was alone and therefore could use single rider passes for all the busy rides. Still, crowds didn't seem terribly heavy. If those rides are really important to you, I would go the week following Memorial Day.

I would also consider that they're gearing up for the 50th anniversary - so repairs have been going a little longer than usual (like the Small World repairs this year.) Is there any chance you could plan your trip closer to the time you're going? (Like with a month or two's notice?)

As far as crowds go, we were there for NYE, President's Day weekend, Cinco de Mayo, Fourth of July and just a few weeks ago. We feel that the new park (DCA) has mitigated a lot of the crowding issues that we used to experience. When DL gets too crowded, we just go hang out at DCA. Of course, we do go to DCA to see it - it's not just the "runner up."

Hope that helps...

This happened to us on our last trip to DL (Oct. 99) . We normally hit DL every other year, but we are skipping this year to do WDW since we haven't seen the 100 year celebration yet.

DL's POC is SOOO much better than WDW that it really bummed me out that it was closed. We missed the Blue Bayou too, which we eat at every trip.

We are planning to do DL next October, so hopefully POC will be open then. I know that we went to WDW on 9/01 just before the 100 years kicked off and lots of things were closed. I know September was a slow time, but lots of the little kid things that our DD likes were out of commission and it did affect some of the trip. I guess that is going to be the case at DL until the 50th anniversary gets going.

I would say that if it really bothers you, change. We couldn't do that since I found out to late, or I would have.

You can't miss Pirates! It's the best ride! I would try to push back your trip a couple of days if you can. DOn't worry about the crowds. I just went in the middle of July this year, and even though it was crowded, I still had lots of fun!:p
