I had envisioned taking my 2.5 yo on the Millennium Falcon or to see Rise of the Resistance because he likes storm troopers.

Then I saw they had height requirements he wouldn't meet and I was bummed. I looked up why RotR has requirements and it's fine, but blah. I still wanted my little copliot with me!

I recently watched the RotR ride on YouTube and I'm pretty sure it would traumatize my son so that can wait, but why is the falcon ride restricted?

Of course the only cure for my grief is to plan another trip when he's older! Now if only King Arthur's carrousel wouldn't be down during our trip that would be swell, too.

Thank you for listening/helping as I go through the Disneyland stages of grief.

There could be a couple of reasons for the Falcon ride restriction. The Falcon ride is interactive - it might be hard for a 2.5 year old to understand how to do his "job/position" for the ride. Also if he gets any job/position other than pilot he probably wouldn't be able to see the screen. I was an engineer and had to move around as much as the seat belt would allow me to see our the window and also hit the buttons I needed to.

I will say I had a little kid( maybe 5) and he was an amazing gunner! I think he got 100% for his accuracy.

Safety. It's all about safety. I haven't been on either Galaxy Edge rides yet, but I assume there is a lot of jerking motions. A person needs to be able to be safely buckled into their seat, and I would guess the restraints wouldn't properly fit a toddler. He could get thrown out of his seat, or if he's not properly secured his head, neck, or back could be injured. Same reason why a toddler shouldn't be using a seatbelt in a car - it can't fit their body and they can't be properly restrained. I promise, Disney doesn't put height limits in to be a killjoy. They do it because it's absolutely necessary.

Ruining the magic, so feel free to skip over the next line of information....

The cast member can push a button to put some positions on autopilot, and will do so for young kids so they will get 100%.

My youngest grandson is 2.5yo. The general intensity would freak him out--blasts and jerking and sudden loud noises. But safety wise, it's because it's a jerky/bumpy ride, and seats aren't situated so that a parent could easily supervise a toddler. And there's just no way the seatbelt would hold in a 2yo that didn't want to be there (or is just acting like a normal 2yo!).

It's really not so bad. Honestly I think any 2.5 year old who would be fine in an airline seat would be fine there, although reaching all the buttons/switches/controls might be an issue. My kid is 9 and had a blast. I remember back for our first visit at 2 years, 3 months the ride that height wasn't an issue was Gadget's Go Coaster, but our kid wasn't tall enough for other rides that didn't seem like height was really that critical like Radiator Springs Racers.

Really shows that my son would not have a good time/be safe and that's the only important thing.
Falcon is similar to Star Tours with regards to motion. ROTR also has some similar issues. Racers also has a height requirement for a reason.
