BUMMED about Disney Visa free dining code...

Can you go a day earlier? If you check in on the 22nd you can get free dining! It might be worth it!

I even know someone who made their res'v for the day before they were coming in. They checked in early the next a.m. as a "late arrival" or something!!! I don't think they were doing it for a code, but so they could check in at 7am. If you are driving you could probably do this just by leaving a few hours earlier than you were planning on. I would double check the "late arrival" thing with a CM though. We've checked in after midnight though, so it's probably ok.

I just came upon this thread, and have a few questions..

We are Disney Visa card holders, and are heading down Oct 22nd-29th.

How did you find out about the free dining plan with the Visa? I just added on the dining plan a few weeks ago and would love to know if we could get it for free!!

I know how you feel! We are checking in on Nov 8th, and the free dining plan doesn't start until Nov 9th! Yes, I know we can do a split ressie, but then don't I have to check out and back in the next day? Could I do that early in the morning before we head out to the parks? Will they make us change rooms??

I've never done a split reservation. Some people have said they had to check out and back in, some have said they did not have to do this.....

Yes, you would have to check out and back in, as it would be the start of your FD res. There is always a possibility you could have to change rooms. My guess most likely not. But there is that possibility.

Not due to FD, but DH and I have a continuing res coming up. So it will be interesting to see what happens.
I can understand not having to check out, because we use Express Check Out. And I would think checking in would be a breeze. But I can't imagine not having to check in under the new res. If nothing else I would think we have to have to new KttW cards.

We're arriving on 11/8 and we have three rooms so we're checking in for one night and re-checking in the following morning. For three rooms, we're saving about $1,800 for free dining so we figured it was worth the hassle of possibly moving rooms after the first night! But hey, we're cheap so we'll do about anything for free food!

We just did this in August and it is so worth it. We arrived on 8/22/08 & FDP started on 8/24/08. It was easy to go down and recheck in for the new ressie...I went down about 6:45 an was done in 5 minutes. Your park tickets will be tied to your 2nd ressie so you will not have park access until 11/9. You will probably not have to change rooms. I have done this 3 times and have never had to change rooms. Just have them note it on your ressie when you call to make the change that you want to stay in the same room.

If you check in by 11/22 you can have free dining for a maximum of 14 nights. It is being offered at Values, MODS and Deluxes, but availability is limited.

Thanks. I need to run the numbers because this would add almost a week to our trip (but who is complaining about that!) but that would be fantastic to have DDP. Our current ressie is with our DVC points but for free dining it might be worth it to change.

I need some help in figuring this out - I thought it was simple math, but well read below ...... and thanks to all that help.


I originally booked my vacation for Nov 8th - 16th for:
2 adults
Magic your way plus dining
8 day park-hopper tickets
Magical express

I paid with cash (bank card) for the total amount $1,619.60
** This package was paid for 2 wks prior - before the code came out about the Disney visa promotion


now here goes...... I am a disney visa cardholder
so I call my TA to get an adjustment/refund or something.
I am told that I have to get a new reservation because i did not pay with my disney visa card and it would have to be 2 reservations

1. room only reservation for Nov 8th - because free dining does not start until 1 day later after my arrival on Nov. 9th.

2. Disney visa promotion package with free dining from Nov. 9th - 16th.

** okay i understand that - now this part is what I don't understand

Remember my original package is for $1619.60 (2 adults 8 nights w/ dining)
so i figure that my savings would be, the amount of dining deducted from my first package:

38.99/night x 8 nights x 2 people = $623.84

but here are the numbers

(first) reservation package $1,619.60 with dining (not free)

---------- swith over to---------------

using my disney visa card
new pkg --- Nov. 8th room only for $111.37
new pkg w/free dining for Nov 9 -16th for $1,213.24
Grand total $1,324.61

1. there is only $294.99 difference -- why is the difference not the total amount of what the disney dining amount would of cost me if it were not free.

2. How is everyone saving so much more.

did you originally use a different code when you booked? My understanding is that the free dining package has to be a "full price" package which means no room discounts. I did get the FD visa discount and I did notice that aside from the free dining, there is an additional $213 I am saving over the what the full price would have been. I read that there "may" be a room discount at "some" resorts. I had to change from the QXD code that I originally booked at with a great room discount to the Visa code which totally did away with thr original room discount. It doesn't seem that they are allowing more than one discount code to be used for this particular offer.

If it helps, I am also trying to figure out the "math" of it all. I'm waiting on my TA to get back to me, but I think for me my savings are less because I can only get 3 days of free dining. I am not sure if I still have the Fall discount package on it or not (which could also explain why the savings aren't as much as others). But hey, a savings is a savings, no matter how much it is!

We are going Nov 3-12. Has anyone been able to get the free dining at POP?.
My trip is already paid for because within 45 days has passed .
We would have to pay a penalty fee I would guess? I booked the FAll general public getaway when it came out BEFORE Visa package. I have a Disney Visa and never got an email or anything. Has anyone had a package changed for this offer? My package was booked by AAA. 8 nights 9 days 2 adults 1609.19 at POP with basic dining and 8 day hopper tickets.
I had a hard time booking ADR's for NOV 8,9,10& 11 so I can't imagine booking them now. Not too happy with Disney Visa right now!
