I have yet to fax, or call, the resort in order to put in any special requests. I have always just noted them on my reservation when I made them.
It got to the point that so many guests were faxing requests that the resorts stopped looking at them. That may have changed...I don't know. I will say that in close to 18 trips, I have gotten pretty much what I wanted in a room. The one place I tend to not get close to exactly what I had requested is at DVC resorts.
If you have paid for a 'waterview' then that's what you'll get. But, it could be a pool or a river view. Did you put a request in for a poolview in the Mansion section? Bldg 85 is centrally located, with a pool on one side of the bldg. It's a nice, quiet pool, with laundryroom there also. The East Depot bus stop is behing bldg 85, across the parking lot. The main bldg and food court is a short walk from 85...cross Ole Man Island, and then cross the bridge to the main bldgs...about 5 mins. Bldg 85, Magnolia Terrace, is my favorite mansion bldg. Oak Manor (90) has a pool next to it, and Parterre Place (95) is on the other side of that pool. According to the POR (actually Dixie Landings, it's that old) map I'm looking at, Arcadian House (80) is the only mansion that doesn't have a pool right there. But the pool at Magnolia Terrace is closeby.
Since you still have a week before you arrive, I would call whomever you made your reservations with and put in a request of a particular mansion if you wish. It can't hurt.
