Building a stockpile from couponing

No set amount or limit for me. My limit comes in how many papers to buy. I currently get 2 delivered on Sunday and if I see that it is a particularly good week, I will buy two more papers.

Whatever we know we will use or that I can donate to the scout food drive in February is fair game. I don't bother getting things I know we aren't interested in or won't eat or use.

We can't ever seem to have too much pasta, cereal, or snacks.

It seems between church and scouts we are always asked to bring something.....a snack, appetizer, hot dish, drink, etc.....so while some think stockpiling chips ahoy is not good, grabbing a $1 bag of chips or cookies instead of running to buying them last min. for $4 is worth it for us.

You absolutely don't have to join facebook. I like it as it is easy to see all of my bloggers links on one page. I dont have to go to each of their blogs. Even though much of the information is repeated , you do will get different info sometimes. I find I spend less time on the net because I can see all info at once.

I use google reader for seeing them all in one place.

Thanks for all the great responses. I do read a couple of blogs and get some pretty good print coupons. I can get the newspaper for one penny every week so I just get three of those.

I know that hoarding is a type of OCD but I think the thrill of getting something for the cheapest price can release a dopamine rush that closely resembles a drug high which can push people over the edge into hoarding even if they don't have the OCD connection.

So I did some more planning and have created the following plan. I have one bin that I will be packing up with stuff for my December trip. This will be my car vacation kit. I go on vacation about once every three months. Even if not to Disney, I have to step away from work. I usually use my time share and go somewhere with a kitchen. So I will create that kit first, toothpaste, toothbrushes, coffee filters, pasta sauces, etc. It will get used up and replenished pretty regularly.

Second, I am going to focus on farm fresh goods and getting them ready for the winter. This the time of year for it. Got some amazing peas and organic strawberries today at the market. Strawberries will get frozen for my smoothies and peas will be blanched and frozen. Farmer's markets don't take coupons but I have been going to this market since I was three, they usually give me a bunch of stuff for little to nothing. 2 Pts of organic strawberries - $3. :cool1:

Third, I convinced my dad to go in on 1/4 of a no hormone-antibiotic free cow. They even dry age the beef. So excited about that. Nothing like a dry aged steak. If you haven't had one try it.

I will use coupons for my dry goods, cleaning products and paper products and take advantage of the bounty of fresh products at my farmers market to fill my freezer.

I will update on how I am doing cutting my food bill down. I am hoping to get it to about $200 for a month.

I've been reading everyone's posts - and it's inspired me to start couponing again.. I stopped awhile ago telling myself I didn't have the time. Well, I've decided to make the time again...

But I have a question - how do you use google reader "to see them all in one place"? I admit - I'm a newbie to google reader, so any advice would be great.

Thanks for the inspiration!

I do this too. I use a laminated list with checkboxes. I tape it to the underside of the lid and check off items with a dry erase marker.
