How big is yours? I just bought 4 10" x 10" green baseplates and dh wants to build a table for them. So will a 20 x 20 inch table be large enough? Also how about the height? Dh wants it coffee table height so the kids can sit on the floor and build. Anyone want to tell me about your Lego table?

I think the size is going to depend on how much space you have and how many kids you have. Our basement is our playroom, so my Dad built my 2 kids a 4ft by 6 ft table. The best part is that he put a shelf the size of the table underneath, so the kids keep all kinds of toys in bins on the shelf.

If you have an IKEA near you they have a table called the Lack for $9.99 which has the dimensions below. I have seen many people use it as a small Lego table.

Length: 21 5/8 "
Width: 21 5/8 "
Height: 17 3/4 "
Max. load: 55 lb

If he's good at building, I would have him put drawers in underneath the table to store the legos. Shallow ones would work best. Depending on what your kids are like and the ages, you could get dividers to sort the pieces.

If you have IKEA near you, get a TROFAST system. It's a really great table for lego building. Just the right height, nice and sturdy, and you can put bins underneath for storage. We just bought two of these:

put them back to back, and it's am AMAZING table for building legos, marble runs, domino rallys, etc.

You can simply glue the baseplates right on top, or not.

I wanted to say thanks to everyone that helped! I really loved the homemade table but that was way to big! LOL Only if my kids were younger. The link to the Ikea gave me an idea. I remember seeing a college type end table at walmart. So I went today and sure enough they had a black one for 14.96. It's a perfect fit 920" x 20" square) for the 4 baseplates I bought. It's small enough not to take up to much room but large enough to build on. Now all I need is some liquid nail to attach the baseplates.

Thanks again everyone!

THANK. YOU. You've just cleaned my son's room. I know he thanks you also. :woohoo:

The best Lego table I've ever seen had the base-plate part, and then a part that dipped down - like a hole cut out and replaced by a canvas sling - to hold the loose Legos.
