building 11 / 12 at OKW

Just wanting to find out which building at OKW has a better view. The buildings I am looking at are 11 and 12.

Those two buildings are about equal. Remember that location requests are "only" requests, and you may wind up in another location. Also, they are part of a special booking category, "Near Hospitality". So unless you specifically reserved "near Hospitality" it is extremely unlikely there would be any availability in those buildings. Near Hospitality category includes Bldgs 11 to 14, and 23 to 26.

Those buildings near check-in, while convenient to the main check-in area, do have some parking issues during busy times, if you're driving that is something to consider.

We have stayed in building 12 a few times and love it. Nice location and good views. Once they put us in building 11, but on the end. When we walked in the room smelled very musty. We opened the door to the balcony and realized we were surrounded by plants. There was no light getting in the unit. We called down and told the front desk and we were moved right away to building 12. I think it was because it was on the end with so much greenery around it. But you do have to have the HH area already booked to get that area.

What is booking category "Near Hospitality House"? I just looked at the OKW point lists and didn't see different view categories like for ex. at BLT (Standard, Lake, MK).

Also, I stayed at OKW twice before becoming a DVC member and both times got rooms at the 23-26 area without even asking for it.

There is no point difference for the rooms- but it keeps them from having everyone request- near HH- since it is a category for booking if you can't book it then you don't expect it.

This category was only added in the last year or 2 I believe so you may have stayed there before the category was available for booking.

I think that at the time, when we were not DVC members yet and stayed at OKW, I heard that the buildings close to Hospitality House were reserved for DVC members. So we were actually gladly surprised when we got our studio there.

So when you request "Near hospitality house" right when you book, it's actually not a request but a booking category and you will get it guaranteed?

Yes- you are booking a category- just like there are Boardwalk view and garden view rooms at BWV and you know which category you have to begin with so it isn't a surprise when you arrive.
