We are taking our kids for a *surprise* trip at the end of May - We will be spending 2 days at US/IOA (they haven't been in 5 years) - My DS7 has autism and to prepare him we have been looking at videos of the different attractions on UTube. (The kids think we "might" be going in August;)) - With a little preperation he is pretty much up for anything. :goodvibes.
While looking at the videos we came across one that shows a 'Build your own Spongebob" in one of the gift shops. One of the challenges we have with DS is he can get an obssesive fixation on something. And yes...we found our newest *fixation*. This Build a Spongebob thing. He has been talking about it for the past 4 days non-stop (and we only have 56 more days to go!) Fortunately Universal is scheduled for our first day.
I am almost afraid to ask - but is this something that is still there? I am hoping it is a regular thing like the Build your own Potato Head at WDW. And if so, where is it located? It will absolutely need to be our first stop when we get to Universal.
Here's hoping for good news from someone...:flower3:

I was there again over the weekend. The store as you exit Jimmy Neutron has the build your own SpongeBob. I don't remember the price, but it was around $20. I hope you have a truly wonderful vacation!:)

I don't know if it will be there when you go. Jimmy Neutron ride is closing and only open during peak times until August. From what I have read a lot of the Nick stuff has been changed already at the park.:sad1:

Oh No!!:eek::eek: - Mommy better start working on Plan B! :scared1:

We are going the end of May (Memorial Day Weekend) also and my son hopes its open for one last ride.

We will be there that weekend too. :goodvibes Actually we will be at Universal the Thursday before the weekend.
So I guess the questions I will have to wait and see on are:
1. Will that weekend be considered *peak* time.
2. Will that gift shop be open (or even still there!)
3. If the anwer is NO to question 1 & 2 - Does Univeral have enough love:lovestruc for Mr. Squarepants to relocate the Build Your Own?

Over the years I have become pretty good at redirecting DS7 - but this might be a tough one. :headache: Already sent the warning email to DH at work! :surfweb:

1. That weekend should be a peak time but I don't know about Thursday.
2.The gift shop should be open at that point, don't hold me to it.
3.They might have him in other stores throughout the parks and Citywalk.

Yup. Thats the darn thing! lol! There is also a video on UTube that has a kid showing all the little accessories that you can choose - jellyfish, krabby patties, spatulas - We have watched that one so many times, I can tell you that the show on the TV in the background is The Kardashians!:rotfl:

My son got one of these on our last trip. There is a very limited number of items available, but, unlike the Disney Potato heads, you don't pick and choose what you like, you get to fill your box with one of everything. I think there is something like 15 pcs. or so. My son loves playing with his. We got his from the large Universal store in the front of the park.

Thank you for the info. This makes me a little more optimistic. :)
