Build-A-Bear Mickey Ears Tip

Meet Zarion, my build-a-bear. The ladies and gents all got a real kick out of him. Here he is lounging at Ariel's Grotto with a pair of infant sized mickey ears. Unfortunately, these ears are just too big for him.

The black colored mickey ears that come with the BAB outfit were just a wee bit snug. No matter how many times I tried, these ears just refused to stay on Zarion's head and there was no chin strap like the park ears have.

Last night I came up with a plan. I found a roll of polyester heavy stretch elastic (used for clothes) and measured a piece. This material can be found at walmart or other craft stores, such as Joann's. I then sewed a strip to the inside of the black mickey ears.

Here is the front view. The strap is not noticeable, only from the sides. At least the ears will stay on now. Who knows? Maybe it will even withstand the Santa Ana winds! Just thought I'd share! Hope this helps.

I can't wait to go to Build-A-Bear in a couple of weeks. I had thought about attaching a thinner elastic band myself - the wider one probably holds it in place better, though. Just curious, did you get the lanyard of pins there or did you put it together yourself?

No problem! LOL. All the CM's loved his lanyard and they were surprised to hear I made it for him. They kept saying: "That's just too cool!"

He is cute. I wanted to let you know that the elastic also often can be found in black so might look more like an original part of the hat.
