So my mom and I are headed to Disneyworld next week! (EAK!!!) Last time I was there was in '95 and I remember the huge freaky looking bugs (I had a HUGE bug thing on my belly while enjoying the intertube float at Blizzard Beach that totally freaked me out) but I dont remember misquitoes (sp) being a problem..

Does anyone know if Disney sprays for misquitoes?? The reason I ask is cause I am crazy allergic to misquotoe bites where I swell up big time!! and am wondering if I should bring replent to try to minimize that..

I am WAY excited for the trip, I SOOOOOOO can't wait, the only thing i'm dreading is the HOT weather and the humiditiy.. We are coming from Oregon, where it is currently 55 degrees (cloudy) and headed to 93Degree and humidity.. talk of shock to the system!! lol.. oh and also dreading facing the big scary ugly buggs again.. they are FREAKY!! NEVER have seen bugs like bugs there lol

I have been to WDW many times in the summer months, and my DH always comments on the lack of bugs!! I would still take meds for allergies, but I have stopped taking bug spray!! They must spray or use something, I would love to know what !!

I think they do spray for mosquitos because I have always been their first choice. Wehren I go to a picvnic or gathering other people are doing ok and I am swatting the bugs away.
I do have problems with those tiny no-see-ums that seem to attack my legs during the fireworks at Epcot. I spray my legs with bug spray around 8 pm and I have no problems but if I forget to spray I will have welts then biteds that itch for days after.

I would love to know the poison. My bug guy says there is no spray for mosquitos. They use some kind of machine that chases them away. My city does air sprays but doesn't seem to work.

Cool thanks, thats good to know :-) I may just bring the anti-itch stuff to be on the safe side (I'm like Mickey, where the bugs LOVE me and leave everyone else alone lol) , but leave the replent stuff at home.. more room in my suitcase!

The bugs love me too and at home I get bit all the time. I hardly ever get bit at Disney though and I don't usually use bug spray there. Sometimes I bring it if there's room in the suitcase but I always bring lanacane as a "just in case" for those occasional bites.

I would bring some just in case you find yourself in a secluded area in the early evening. If you are in the parks and surrounded by people, its not a problem but if you know you'll be on a boat going somewhere or on the beach at the Poly or Grand Fla, I would take heed and come prepared. The monorail platform on the resort side at the Magic Kingdom can be BRUTAL!

DH and I believe WDW sprays for bugs. For Florida, we never see a lot of bugs, just the small lizards.

However, if you are allergic you should still bring spray to protect yourself.

I don't know but I do plan on bringing bug spray. I saw Off in a small travel size can at Target yesterday for about $3

I read somewhere that Disney releases 250,000 "warrior insects" each year. Their sole purpose is to devour other insects.

between may 5-14 i counted 26 bug bites on me. it was so bad, and they were itchier than any bites i've ever had before. i actually have 3 that are still very large and itchy--they won't go away. they were like super bugs.

next time i will have a can of spray for sure.
