We leave for WDW (staying at ASMu) on Saturday. Can't wait. At this time of year, do we have to worry about mosquitoes and other pesky bugs?

Well, when the country was formed most of the bugs settled in Florida. Generally they are not a problem, for example they have mosquitos pratically year round but they are not really bad around the resorts or parks. September, you can get love bugs -- harmless little black flying things apparently out to mate but more likely will commit suicide on car windshields. Whether those are gone yet I do not know. Once in a while someone will actually see a bug in the room -- do not take that as Disney being remiss in controlling bugs in the room; Disney does its best in that area but a fact of life in Florida is that a bug will eventually show up inside.

Yep, you will be in Florida! Bugs are a way of life there, and you either learn to live with them, or leave. If they really bother you, just bring the insect repellant. We really have never had a problem with them on Disney property. You may see mosquitos, flies, ants, palmetto bugs, love bugs, noseeums, gnats... but they have never bothered us, so we don't bother them.

I have NEVER gotten a mosuitoe bite when I was in Disney world, now I am starting to think maybe I am not as sweet as I think.:)

It's pretty bug-gy here in Florida this time of year, but the bugs never seem abundant at WDW. If you're a bug magnet, though, a spritz of the Avon mosquito stuff or some other mild insect repellant might make you feel better.

Have a great trip:)

I will pack the bug spray now, because of all the fuss over West Nile. I am stinky to the bugs and never get bitten much, but I fret over the kids. I buy a low-concetration DEET spray (like Off for kids or families) and that protects them for about an hour (I read this in a consumer magazine. The stronger the spray, the longer it protects). I would use the spray in the evening when the mosquitoes are really active, if we were somewhere "wild" like the Ft. Wilderness campfire. I don't recall any mosquitoes in the parks.

I live right outside Disney and the only problem right now are all the Love bugs! Geez, it's definitely love bug mating season...

Bugs, I hate bugs. Why did it have to be bugs? Oh wait, that was snakes, never mind.

We were all over in Dis end of August and not one bite. Then we visited friends about an hour away at a campground..golly gee, I found where Dis shipped their bugs!! One of the grounds workers told me while we slept, they spray! I'm so glad.

Besides the bugs don't take up to much space on the rides...
