Bug Spray in June?

Hi everyone!

After over a year of planning, my family and our group of 12 people are leaving for the world in 4 days! :cool1: We have almost everything planed out, but had a quick question for all the experts on these boards. How bad are mosquitoes (sp?) in Florida at this time of year? Should we bring bug spray, or would it just be something else to carry? Thanks so much for your help, I don't know what we would have done without the DIS!

In the parks, I've never had a problem with mosquitos. And I'm usually a mosquito magnet! I believe they treat the land for those nasty bugs. At the resorts, I've been pretty good too. But I'd use some bug spray if you're going for a walk around the resort at night. They might still be lingering in the less trafficked pathways. And around water, such as the many lakes at the resorts. I'd bring some just in case, but I wouldn't worry about it at the parks.

I am ALWAYS getting bit by no-see-ums whenever I'm in WDW. I always have bug spray. One summer in June, my DH were at the Polynesian and decided to eat outside one evening - within 2 minutes I had 9 bites. They were awful! So now I always pack bug repellant and After Bite sticks.

Thanks so much for your responses,

We'll definately be bringing the bug spray! We're planning on spending a lot of time at the resort just sitting on the beach and at the pool, so since bugs seem to be worse around the resort we'll invest in some bug spray!

We just got back from dis on 6/17. My wife can attract bug bites from miles away. Yet she didn't get a single bite the seven days we were there.

I have never had a problem with bug bites, the best bug spray I have found is avon bug spray.

I am a target for anything that bites, but I have never had a problem with being bitten at WDW. I guess it's part of the magic! I always pack OFF! and bite cream, but hardly even use it. They do a great job of pest control.

We used bug spray. I got a bite on my arm. It itched me like crazy even when I put benadryl spray on often. It was a red spot the size of a dime and laster for almost two weeks. The itching laster for 1.5 weeks. I saw a lady in the parks with 5+ of these on one leg and she was complaining about how itchy her leg was. I would recommend the bug spray.

You can buy deep woods off in little individual wipe packets, they work great and you can just slip them in your pocket. In the evenings we have been bit in the parks and the resorts too. Make sure you pack some benedryl cream!

My husband, who is a mosquito haven, says that Disney doesn't allow them there. He's never been bitten. He will get it walking to the mailbox but not at Disney. Take the spray if you want but we never bother.
