Making my packing list... has anyone ever needed bug spray while hanging out on the beach at night at the Poly??!!! I would love to have one less thing to pack.. :)

I'm a mosquito magnet, and I didn't need any when we watched Wishes on the beach.

We did stay on the pathway though and weren't in the sand area. Not sure it made a difference.

Just my experience...we were at Grand Floridian the first week of February. We sat on the dock for about an hour waiting for Wishes on our first evening. I didn't feel anything bite while we were out, but over-night I had a few spots that started itching and found several bites on both legs the next morning. They itched like crazy for the next several days. DH got bitten on the feet, because he had flip-flops on. They definitely were not mosquito bites.

I have never needed bug spray at Poly, or anywhere at Disney for that matter, and DS is a mosquito/bug magnet if they are out. I've often wondered what kind of special "pixie dust" Disney uses, but whatever it is, it works. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I never used to need bug spray at Disney but the last few years during the summer I find it necessary! I especially remember getting eaten alive at WinterSummer Land.

I rarely get insect bites at Wdw. what ever they do, it works!

I have wanted bug spray but not often. I can only think of twice in MANY trips over the years. It is very unlikely that you will need it.

Don't know if it was an unusual summer but last Sep during 2 weeks at POR several in my group got hammered pretty good on multiple days. First time in many trips. They don't sell insect repellent so I would recommend packing some spray or wipes.

:crazy2:I only had one bite last time but MAN it hurt!!! It was so painful and swollen and left a bruise for a long time. I think someone told me it was a deer fly or something like that.

Those sound like sand fleas, I agree that they are awful the next day! They are all over the Caribbean, so we would always keep our feet up on the lounge chairs in the beach to try to avoid them (but still always got chomped).

Remembered, and wanted to add, I was bit by a spider at Epcot when we were standing near the water for the fireworks.

I think I might bring but spray next time :-/

That was a nice little trip to urgent care.

Take bug spray. Better safe than sorry. I've been bitten up plenty of times on the Poly beach at night. Usually on my feet and ankles.
