Buffets w/kids

i know that with the dining plan, kids must ordfer from children's menu when avail., but how does that apply at buffets? i see that there are kids' choices on the menu, but are they able to choose from anything they want, or is it a separate part for kids?

There is a section of the buffet w/kid friendly foods, but they are allowed to eat from the regular buffet also.
