Does anybody know if everybody at the table has to pay and have a plate at the buffet meals, or can they choose to not pay and therefore not eat anything?

DB of 10 is very fussy and definitely won't eat anything on offer, so we take him a packed lunch to keep him occupied which works fine at the table service restaurants, but I wasn't sure if buffets would be different.

Mmm, if it was me I'd feel funny trying it. But if you maybe say he has 'special dietary requirement' and show them you have a lunch for him. And definitely don;t let them see him take a thing off anyone else's plates you should be ok.

Although having seen some of the stuff at Disney Buffets, could anyone resist the desserts?

Yeah as Torise has said i think if you explain then they should be ok with it, if he's not going to eat anything then you shouldnt have to pay. The only case i think they may get abit fussy over is when it is a character buffet but again if everyone else is eating and paying and you explain i cant see there being a problem.

I think in table service restaurants this would be more readily accepted. Since they have a record of what was ordered from each table.
In the buffet service they tend to bill according to the number at the table :)

If you speak good French I would try it but if not I think you may have hassle with it.

What food will your DB eat?? We may be able to help out by saying if these items are usually available.

I'm with torsie here, I'm sure there will be enough to tempt him unless he really doesn't do desserts.

ok, but I don't think they serve any of the following (note: this is his entire diet, not just a few things he likes:

  • White, sliced bread (plain or toasted) with Anchor or similar UK based butter (he doesn't like the standard butter available at DLRP
  • Cadbury's dairy milk (bar or regular sized buttons (no giant ones))
  • Milky way magic stars
  • Petit filous strawberry or raspberry fromage frais
  • Marks and Spencer chocolate lollies
To drink they need to serve Robinson's Special R orange squash or water.

I suspect the answer here is that we could get hold of the water, but nothing else as we can't even get suitable bread for him at breakfast.

It is worth noting that this selective diet is a side effect of him being autistic ::yes::

As this is a very selective diet I would go to City Hall. They will I'm sure help you in this regard and make sure you have something you could show restaurants so that your DS could have his own food, even in buffet restaurants.
Please let us know how you get on as I'm sure this will be of interest to others :thumbsup2

Thanks for that, we'd never have thought of getting City hall to help. As it happens, we need to go there anyway because another side effect is he can get quite bad in queues, so the blue pass helps a lot in the main park (it's just a shame you can't use it in the Studios).

In addition, thanks for not saying "what about...". Even the medical professionals say that after you tell them "this is his entire diet" :rotfl:
