Hi All!

Okay I just made some ADR's for Ohana on December 30th. The price for a buffet including tax is $37.27!! Just last year in 2008 the price was $26.99 plus tax. Neither price includes gratuity.

With that said has Disney lost it's magic or what? I can get a fine steak at Ruth Chris for this price. It's really getting ridiculous and we won't be doing the buffets any longer. This is approximately a 36 percent INCREASE!! :scared1:Inflation should be about 2 percent a year. I know for a fact they are not losing money. I believe they profitted 2.8 BILLION last year. Now, don't get me wrong I LOVE Walt Disney World, but things like this just rub me the wrong way. :sad2:

Further, you have Universal down the street which charges $99.00 for a week for their park, plus you have Sea World and Wet and Wild. You also have the brand new Waldorf Astoria and Hilton near EPCOT and DTD. Heck, you can get a gorgeous room at the Hilton for $99.00 a night, and the Waldorf has a special now where you can get a SUITE for $189.00 a night with offers such as buy 3 nights get one FREE! PLUS they have DISNEY VIEWS!!

They have also increased double strollers from $18.00 to approximately $32.00 within a year. They have increased parking from $8.00 in 2004 to now $14.00 this year. Tickets have gone from $65.00 in 2006 to approximately $80.00 for this year.

I understand it is a business. But they should understand how a business should be run. Sooner or later they will run into a brick wall. They will price themselves out of profitability.

Thanks for letting me vent, but this is how I see it.

Thanks all!

Brunette

Is this the permanent price or just seasonal? You could be paying higher prices because your are going over the Christmas/New year holiday.

Hi JennSaint!

Well the "seasonal" price last year was approximately $30.00 now it's $37 and change. They just keep going up and up and up. Maybe they want people to use the DINING experience where all your meals are paid for in advance. Personally we just don't eat all that food and I don't want to be locked in to that either.

Thanks!

Does it really matter? Disney gouging Guests during the holidays is also a rip off.

That is another reason why I will not do the dinner buffets anymore...oh and that they are all BLECH (except for Cape May and Beirgarten).

I would much rather spend that money on a nice TS order off the menu place.

The breakfasts are getting pretty high up there too....cannot believe it

This is why I love the deluxe Dining. For around 70 dollars a day I can have 3 good meals and 2 snacks.

Hi Nancy!

Yes, that is for one ADULT. Now, remember that an ADULT means a CHILD that is over 10! That's another rip in my opinion since most children 10-13 really don't eat that much! But yet they are charged an ADULT price.

thanks!

Hi!

That really doesn't work for us. Seventy ($70.00 a day x 2 people for 7 days = approximately $980.00) dollars a day for the week is outrageous for us to spend on food. I'm not a big food eater. I like to bring in fruit, eat salads and an occassional buffet. One thousand dollars spent on food for the week to me is unreasonable, because I don't want all that food every day. Plus I would GAIN WEIGHT! LoL

Hi MickeyNicki!

I do like Beirgarten also. Boma at the AKL is also very good! We tried Crystal Palace in September and I wasn't that impressed.

thanks!

I don't think that sounds like such a good deal. Before the dining plan came along we could get the food you mentioned for a lot less than $70/day.

Well yeah and gas was only 1.00 a gallon too.....
When i can get $150 worth of food for $70 a day. I consider it a bargain.

They wouldn't be able to charge $150 if it weren't for the Dining Plan.

An average dinner at Red Lobster totals $40-$45. It's called inflation and it's everywhere.

folks just a reminder this is NOT the debate board

yes, prices have gone up. If you are not happy, vote with your $$. The only way things will change is if guests stop paying the prices. WE have cutback in where we eat and are doing less TS than ever. And just as happy

feel free to express your thoughts but debate is not appropriate for this topic for this forum :)

thanks for understanding

Understood. :) We have been voting with our money and have found several off site restaurants we enjoy. Like you, we're eating at more CS restaurants these days. CS prices have gone up a little but not that much, and I really don't have a problem with what they charge. I was happy to see Columbia Harbour House added a shrimp dinner for les than $10 and can't wait to try it.

Hmmm ... I'm almost positive that double strollers went up to over $30 in April 2008 and I was pretty shocked when I tried to rent one last December. My DD tends to go-go-go-go until she doesn't and we usually rent a double stroller for her for NYE so we enjoy the fireworks and even stay out past midnight. Yes, she's one of those big kids in a stroller that everyone complains about but it has only been for NYE night for the last couple of years. I went to rent a stroller and I refused to do it when I found out how much it was. I was willing to pay $20 but not $30!

As for 'Ohana ... we won't go to any buffets until my DD is older. At the age of 10 she is a "Disney Adult" and there is no way she would eat $38 worth at any buffet. My DH is bummed that we're not going to Boma, but I'm also not willing to pay $39 per day for her on the DDP either.

Speaking of the DDP, did you know that WDW will also add "holiday pricing" to the DDP next year? It will be $5 more for specific dates (2/12/10 - 4/10/10, 6/04/10 - 8/14/10, 12/17/10 - 12/31/10 according to Mousesavers).
