Buffet price increase - honor pricing from time of booking?

I've booked ADR's for our October trip already with some character buffets included. I'm wondering if there is any chance that Disney will honor pricing from when I booked vs the rumored increase that begins in October.
I know I'm being optimistic by even asking this question...

Nope. You don't lock in dining prices by booking early. Not unless you have paid for the dining plan, I guess you could call that locking in the price.

I could be remembering incorrectly, but I believe Disney has "grandfathered" a former DP credit cost and/or price in the past for an increase...Cindy's Castle comes to mind. So, it is possible, but judging by recent actions, not probable.

According to the dining guest policy which states " Menu Items, Pricing, and Hours are subject to change without notice", unfortunately the booking confirmation doesn't help with the pricing especially when you pay out of pocket.

Nope....only prepaid dinner shows are honored (HDDR, luau). This happened to us one year when they changed the age of "children". The age use to be 11 and under. We had an ADR for cape may with our 10 year old grandson. We asked if they would honor the policy when we booked and was told no. So we cancelled (before there was a cc penalty).

hoping we will be OK with our OOP ADRs for November - TH breakfast and Minnie's Holiday Dine which have not been part of the rumored increases. If that should change I will cancel both.

Yep, us too. I think it changed during a summer trip with our GS. I too cancelled Cape May, Chef Mickey and Ohana. I did, however, keep Trails end that trip because the price was already so low for lunch and he could eat pizza like crazy....I think lunch back then was $15. One of the best deals on property back then....miss that the lunch buffet ended there! The only time my granddaughter gets buffet is in the line on the Cruise ship at Cabana's!

BTW....we had booked and paid for HDDR and that was honored at the kids price!

1) As mentioned above, ONLY pre-paid meals/shows are immune from booking-time increase.
2) All other pricing is Subject To Change.
3) However, if you bought DDP, they usually honor the DDP Plan pricing. *

* We tell people, when they ask, that with all the other Disney changes being made, we NEVER predict any pricing "holding firm".

You just can't make it up, can you? So many increases in such a short period of time. This coming trip is going to be more difficult to budget.

You do mean the price you pay for the plan, not the number of credits needed for a meal, correct? If these really do go to 2 TS credits, it won't matter when you booked it, you will pay 2 TS credits when you eat, correct? Just want to make sure I'm understanding you.

No buffet on Disney property is worth $60 with or without characters. We would cancel if they changed the price on us. This seems the way of it now, Disney's price-gouging, but luckily we have a car and Orlando has a LOT to offer. I am reminded once more of that scene from Jurassic Park where the sleazy lawyer boasts over the dinner table that the park was going to be so popular that "we could charge whatever we want...$1000 a day...$2000! and People WILL pay!"

There's a sticky at the top of this forum with all current buffet/AYCTE prices listed on it. RustyScupper does an EXCELLENT job of keeping this updated for us!

The info you get here will be far more accurate than the info you get on any Disney site.

FWIW, I have found Rusty's thread to be 100% correct for our trips.

If you think about it a bit, especially given Disney IT, the amount of chaos involved in tying price of buffet to date of ADR without requiring every buffet ADR to be prepaid? Madness. Absolute chaotic madness.

On the other hand, I bet requiring buffet ADRs to be fully pre-paid would create some interesting booking patterns at 180 days, and for people who book extra seats in case Aunt Lulu The Indecisive comes along, particularly if there were somehow system logic that would only let you use as many dining credits as available within your DDP setup, across both buffet and menu service, and if you canceled your DDP would require payment-in-full for the buffet price as of that cancellation date.

Mind you, I'm rather sure that it would pretty much destroy the computer system now in place. But it would be entertaining.

The Disney site uses the same 35-60 range for many restaurants. It's just an indication of what level it fits in. California Grill is also in the 35-60 classification, but it's quite possible to spend $80 or more on a three course meal.

I do think Disney need to provide more information for buffets, as full service meals have menus with prices up.
