Me again!

2 buffet questions:

1 - Have any of you eated at Plaza Gardens recently? If so what's on the menu? Was it good? And is lunch and dinner the same offerings?

2 - Inventions - I know there are characters at dinner and not lunch - but is the food the same at both sittings?

We prefer to eat big meals at lunch time than in the evening, you see.

Not been to plaza gardens, but it does get very good reviews and we are having lunch there on our visit, so after two weeks I'll be able to tell how the food was.

Just to throw my tuppence in... We ate in Plaza Gardens in May 2010 and really didnt like it. Everything was labelled badly and the meat in everything was chewy and tough. Its been a while now but I dont think I would bother going back. We werent late eating either, that you could say maybe the food was sitting out too long like.

Rathered the buffet in the Cheyenne in fact!

How was Cheyenne buffet?

Was there in October last year. We call this place the chuck up wagon .

The food was cold, the meat tasteless, the same "fruit" from Breakfast was still there at Dinner and my kids hated everything. And they are not picky. My boy normally has to be stopped.

For the price of it, I expected much better.

Then again we found all of the food at DLP below par. Apart from the Earl of Sambo which was great and not too expensive.

We've always enjoyed Plaza Gardens. If you're looking for another buffet option, Restaurant des Stars in WDS is very good. :thumbsup2

Plaza Gardens was kind of "meh" to us, it's a nice buffet if your picky and like to stick to normal food offerings. It's not really terrible, it's just kind of bland - it'll fill a spot and everything tastes nice enough, it's just not outstanding I suppose.

I personally preferred Hotel New York's Parkside Diner buffet or Resturant Des Stars one (which has some nice dishes and also the chance to see Remy)

I went to the plazza gardens last in Nov 10 and found it to be really tasty - we ate at lunchtime, was busy but not crowded. It really is a great value for money buffet.

I love inventions - only ever eaten for the evening character meal, but I am told the lunch buffet is the same but without the characters.

only ever heard good things about the resturant de stars too in the studios

we'll be eating at all 3 when we go in 11 days :)

Oooh great to hear. :)

Will you be doing a TR? I'd really appreciate if you'd come and let us know how you enjoyed all 3. :)

We really loved the Cheyenne buffet. Theres was a massive amount to choose from and their BBQ sauce is delicious Isila. Definately our favourite buffet so far

I planned to had meals the these buffets:
plaza gardens, parkside dinner, restaurant des stars, Buzz pizza planet(if it's open, kids looking forward to it).

Was thinking of doing Billy Bob's something, but there are so few reviews...

We did Plaza Gardens just before Xmas last year, really enjoyed the food there! The food looked really fresh and they were constantly replenishing (including a lovely "carvery" section)

My only grumble was that the labelling was awful, so I only really had what I could recognise!! Lol

Also loved the food from the Chuck Wagon. Was a bit anxious after reading some reviews on here, but, again it seemed so fresh! (I guess it depends what time you go)

Lastly, we went to Billy Bobs a few years ago, and although I LOVE Tex Mex I thought it was AWFUL, and expensive as well! (2 adults, 2 kids €110! :scared1:)

We ate in plaza gardens a few weeks ago when we were there.

It was a thursday lunchtime, it was busy but not crowded.

We all really enjoyed this meal, I think it was the best value one we had during that trip.

there were lots of delicious salads (pototo salad/pasta/rice salad etc )for starters, plenty of choice of hot meals (chicken, stew, rice pasta, pototoes, pizza, chicken goujons etc), all hot and fresh. I agree with the labelling comments, DD picked what she thought were chicken nuggets, turned out to be cheese inside. though I have to admit she can't read, so it may have been labelled!! (and I ate them they were yummy!)

there was plenty of desert options too (the most delicious chocolate cake, I have to admit to having 2 slices of that!!). With a very fussy DH and DD, I was pleasantly suprised that we all left very full and happy!

I would definately recommend it as a lunchtime buffet option. We have eaten at Parkside diner in the evening at that was really good selection too.

I have questions regarding Inventions and Plaza Gardens too please!

First, are any of these buffets choices for our complimentary breakast if we are staying at the Disneyland Hotel during our trip?

Second, if yes, do we need reservations?

Thanks a million! :worship:

If you are staying in one of the Disney hotels your complimentary breakfast is in your hotel. So in your case you will have breakfast in either the Californian Grill or Inventions in the DLH. You dont need to reserve you just go along with your proof of stay (you will be given an Easy pass when you check in) and you will be given a seat in one of the 2 restaurants.
Breakfast food in them both is the same and is buffet style. The DLH has the best breakfast on site with lots of hot items as well as a large selection of cold

Thank you for the reply A Small World! We are early risers, so the goal is to get up shortly before 7am, and head over to Innoventions for breakfast. That way, we can be ready for EMH by 8am :thumbsup2

Greenkai - we did that one morning at DLH. But on our other days we actually found it better to get up and do EMH and then go back to the hotel for breakfast at 10.

You're really hungry by then and can appreciate all the delicious foods that are out without worrying about missing the gates opening. :)

And it means you can leave lunch until later and miss the rush. :)

In fact we loved doing that so much that this trip we'll eat a small breakfast (probably just juice and a croissant) at 7am in our hotel (Newport Bay) then do EMH and go and get DLH breakfast after EMH. As I enjoyed those breakfasts more than any other meals on our trip. :)
