Okay....here's the deal. You're at a buffet meal..dinner or breakfast, makes no difference. So...do you have to wait in the line, or can you just go to the spot you want to grab your particular food choices.

I will almost always wait in the full line- unless there are very very few people there and they are not near the item I want and I am just grabbing one item where I know I will not be in anyone's way. Otherwise, I will wait in line. That's one good thing about Boma and the pods- virtually no lines.

I always wait in line. I've seen people jump in and I think it's rude but then it's also aggrevating to be in line behind someone who is as slow as a turtle too.

If the folks in front of me are are helping themselves to something I don't want anyway, or are discussing whether they want it or not, I have no problem bypassing them and going directly to the next item I do want. ( of course, not cutting in front of anyone else who is waiting ). What sense is there in waiting for potatoes if I don't want any potatoes? It doesn't cause any additional wait time for anyone, so I don't see the harm.

Absolulely agree....I love the pod system at Boma. I have never seen a problem with line-jumping there. I also tend to wait in the line, but then get grouchy when a 'turtle' is slowing down the line up ahead!!!!

I have found that not everyone understands the pods at Boma. You will sometimes get dirty looks from people who go to the line that always forms near the pap and meat cutting station. Some people get in line there and shuffle along the whole line of pods. I will go in, wait for a certain pod, grab what I want, and go. You will see some people in line making faces.

Kind of like the people in standby waiting for Space Mountain who did not know about Fast Pass when we went in 2000. There were some vocal people!

I don't see any problem with jumping around in line at all...as long as your not cutting people off. I've been to many of the buffets in Las Vegas and everyone moves around as much as they want. Then at Disney, everyone waits in one orderly line. At CP, I've seen upwards of a dozen people all waiting in line for the cold food and no one is at the hot food at all, but they still wait. I think part of the reason is that at Disney, EVERYTHING has a line and people are just used to waiting in line. :confused3

If I don't want something, I politely skip ahead and the same thing for if I'm going back for a refill on just one thing. I hope people don't think I'm being rude, but with small children there is such a short window of time that you can eat, no time for waiting on potatoes, if you don't want potatoes, as someone said already. (Although, I can't say I would ever invision myself passing up any potatoes! hee, hee) Also, DH and I usually take turns going while one sits with the kids, so we have to be efficient with our time.

I skip ahead, but I don't cut people off. If the lady in front of me is scooping up shrimp, which I'm not going to get, I'll move ahead to the spaghetti if it is open.

If the buffet is busy, with people at all the stations, I'll just wait.
:flower:

I usually have to wait in line just because I don't know where the particular food that I want is. :confused3 But if I see ahead of me that there are things I don't want and there is a person if front of me taking their sweet time then I will go ahead of them since it doesn't inconvience them. I would only do this if there weren't a lot of other people and usually only if it is a parent helping a child and I know that I am going to be there a while. I never had to do this at WDW because there never seems to be anyone in front of me. But I have done this at a buffet pizza place where people were stoppped in front of the pasta and I could see my spinach pizza on down the line just waiting! ;) It would not bother me if someone passed by me because they didn't want what I was stopped at.

I still like to eat in courses, even at buffets. So I'll go and get the salad/fruit/soup/bread first. Then I return to my table and eat that "course". At that point I'm ready for the sides and possibly the main course (I will sometimes get one carved meat and a couple of small sides and then go back and get the mains that are on the buffet - two trips) so why would I get in line behind those still getting the cold stuff? I skip to the area I need to be next. Lastly, when I want dessert I go just to desserts, and no one ever questions that, so why would they question the other areas?

So you go through the whole line never jumping ahead, helping your kids fill their plates and you think you got it allbut you get back to your table and oops you forgot a roll, a spoon or some other small item. I don' think you should have to get back at the end of the line for just one item that would maybe hinder someone all of 10 seconds. As long as we remember our manners and not shove our way in I say OK.

If someone wants to duck in front of me and grab an item or a spoonful of something I'm ok with that. :earsboy:

I wait in line. I don't care if you only have one thing to get you should still wait in line. I can't believe the people that jump in front of me to get just that one thing when I have waited in line like everyone else. It's rude.

I'm a patient person so I wouldn't jump in front of someone on a buffet line. I wouldn't feel right doing that. But I wouldn't mind if someone politely skipped in front of me for something, if that makes sense.

I have to say I didnt even know I had to wait in line. I suppose living in England, eating out and buffets arent such a big thing. Whenever I have eaten at a buffet I have seen people just move from food to food depending on what they want to eat. I have never seen it cause any problems.
So folks, Im sorry if Ive got it wrong and I was behind you and did the wrong thing - a cultural difference I think! :cool1:

I'm also wondering what a Pod is?

In most of the buffet lines, all the food is along a counter area. But at Boma, the areas are split up. They are actually like 'stations', so you don't have a line per se. It is easier to eat there.
I will 'jump' in line if there is an empty space, but not if it is wall to wall people. I'm on vacation, as are others, and it's just not worth it to me to upset someone else who's on vacation. But, if there is a 'turtle' in front of me, and there is a nice big ole space in front of said 'turtle' then I will ask politely, if I can pass by. Usually everyone just says..."Oops, sorry I'm being so pokey but there's too much to choose from...go right ahead." You can basically tell what type person you have in front of you.

I do have to say that I'm surprised the results are so close in the poll. I figured they would be a lot more definative and varied.
