Just wondered if any of you have stayed at the Sleep Inn by the Buffalo airport? The webiste says it's new and the rate is $89 including parking, shuttle and continental breakfast. I've also gotten quotes from Clarion $63.99 and Quality Inn $85. I know I have seen people recommend Holiday Inn Express ($114), Comfort Suites ($99), and Homewood Suites ($134) - but their prices are more and although I want something neat and clean (I'm a bit of a cleanliness freak) I need to pinch the pennies to be able to afford this trip. If anyone has any experiences at the above hotels, I'd love to hear them. Thanks so much - you're all so great!!

Oh, I forgot to ask...will any of these hotels print off your SW boarding passes for you after 12:01am? We purchased adult fares for our kids so that we could print off our boarding passes ahead of time - so it would be a shame if we couldn't do that. Thanks again!!

We stayed at the Sleep Inn at 290 and Niagara Falls Blvd. I don't believe it's the same one you are talking about. However, they are clean/new, breakfast is very hearty and they do have a shuttle to the airport. They also have a computer for your use at the front desk. We got a government rate of $76.20 plus taxes came to $86 for the night.

My vote is for the Comfort Suites. We stayed there last Dec. (89$) and have it booked again for this Dec. (89$). It is a great place and offers big rooms with two beds plus a pullout, fridge, microwave, pool, hot tub, free shuttle/parking.
When I called for a rate this year I was told $109!!!! I called back and talked to someone and told them my rate last year was $89 and I NEED that rate again. They booked me with that rate. On the web site their cheapest rate is $99 but I did get the $89 rate.

I have seen pics of the Holiday Inn Express (we were across the street from it), and if you are looknig for CLEAN, that would probably be the place. I think it has only been opened a year or two and is still very new looking. I think Hockeymom has stayed there for $59 and $89. I wonder if you call them vs. the web site, you might be able to get a better rate then $114. I would like to try this hotel, but DD loves the yogurt brand (which I can't get in Canada) at Comfort Suites so we will stick with this hotel I guess.

Thanks for the info.

Riu Girl - What night of the week were you booking at the comfort suites? We want Saturday Dec. 3 - I wonder if the price is higher for the Sat. night. I will have to try getting a lower rate as well. Do you know what time their breakfast is served? We have to be at the airport for 5:45am (our flight is at 7:40am). I was hoping they would be able to print my boarding pass off for me after 12:01 am - did you have this done??

Maybe you can help me with this one- Where do we go through customs, at the airport? I figured we would have to allow time for that and should arrive at airport 2 hours before flight. This is my second flight, but my first from the states.

Thanks a bunch!!

You will already have been through customs when you crossover at the border so there is no need to worry about that. You check in and fly then collect your bags and you are on your way to Disney.
Have fun

I agree, no customs at the airport, just regular security. The airport is quite small (one terminal) and it took us NO time at all to get our boarding passes, through security and to the gate. We had a 6:30am or a 6:50 am flight (cant remember exactly what time with Independence Air) and took the 4:45 am shuttle. We were WAY too early for our flight but saw a play area (good for kids 2-8) near the Independence air/SWA gates.
We are booked at the Comfort Suites for Friday Dec 16, so I assume a Saturday night rate would be the same as a Friday night rate in December?
The free breakfast was available by about 4:30 am. It was much more then we expected (hot and cold food). We ate some there and then filled a ziplock bag for the airport/airplane. I was TOO excited to eat that day, but everyone else had a ton of food at thehotel prior to going to the airport.
IF you do book at the Comfort Suites, consider a first floor room. We had requested second floor and didn't realize that this hotel does not have an elevator. There were a lot of stairs to get our luggage up. This year I have requested a first floor room.
The rooms are very large but are starting to show their age. If you can get a great rate at the Holiday Inn, I would try it (due to newness). Also, the lighting wasn't very good in the rooms and made the rooms look very dark. We were just so excited to be going on a holiday of this magnitude though, that as long as the room was clean (which it was) we didn't care about anything else.
The shuttle was a 15 passenger van. It was an older van but clean. When we arived back at BUF and called for the shuttle, it was there in less then 10 minutes. The staff at this hotel was friendly.
About getting SWA boarding passes, sorry I don't know. You could ask them about it prior to booking. We flew an airline where we had preselected seats, so didn't have to worry about this.
Let me know how you make out.

Thanks again Riu Girl. I just booked it at a rate of $99.97 but they are letting us park 2 vehicles there for the week. I did request a first floor room - thanks for the heads up on the elevator situation. My only issue is that there is no way of printing off our SW boarding passes there - so I need to figure out another option (we really want to get seats together - 6 of us). Anyhow, for now we are booked and I might see if there's another hotel that can do that for us.

Thanks again for the info.

Hey Buzz...

I see you are in Fergus! I know Fergus very well, as I work in the area for almost 10 years. I am in Kitchener!

I would suggest checking out the Hampton Inn's. There are 3 within 5 miles of the airport. The include a hot breakfast and will be in around 105-110. Ask if they have park & fly so you no have to pay for parking!

Cheers

OnMedic - I didn't think anyone knew where Fergus was!! Thanks for the tip, but I booked at Sleep Inn Buffalo Airport only because the rooms can sleep 6 people, their breakfast starts at 4:00am (we need to eat at 5:00am), and they will print our SWA boarding passes off for me. I know it's not a high quality hotel, but as long as it's clean (we'll only be there for some shut-eye) then were good.

If anyone has had an experience at this hotel - please let me know what you thought (the good, the bad, and the ugly).

I am trying to stay somewhere near the airport also. Not to worried about pool ext as we will be in the room to sleep only, late arrival and early flight. However, I do need park and fly, shuttle, breaky and printing boarding passes.

The Sleep in is it the one on Holtz Dr???

THanks

Hockeychic - Yes the Sleep Inn is on Holz drive. I had originally booked at the Comfort Suites (there were some recommendations on this board for that hotel) but they wouldn't print our boarding passes - which is an important thing for us. Also, some hotels didn't serve breakfast until 7:00am which was too late for us. I went on Tripadvisor.com and there seems to be fairly good reviews for the Sleep Inn (the odd bad one, as with any hotel).

Let me know if you find any other hotels under $100 that provides the above.

Good luck!!

I've stayed at the Clarion SUites twice...my preferred for the price. Free shuttle in the a.m. plus they have a business center with hi speed internet, computers, printer etc where I print my own biarding passes.
