Anyone else noticing that the rates from BUF to MCO are high? We're thinking of August and the rates have not dropped at all and heading the opposite way.

Must be all us Canadians going across the border now!

I found the same thing with our upcoming trip... the prices flying Southwest were over $1000 for 3 of us, round trip at one point! As we've gotten closer, the rates have dropped signifcantly... and just this past weekend, I locked in at a lower price and now have a credit with them for a future flight. At one point, Jetblue was cheaper than SW, but I decided to wait for a better SW rate knowing they are so much more flexible with honouring lower rates.

We just booked for August out of Detroit at $175 per person for a direct flight with Delta. Buffalo was too expensive. I am from Kitchener, ON. If you include the extra time that would have been spent on flight stopover for a Buffalo flight, the Detroit trip is just as fast even though the car travel time is longer to Detroit. And saved a bundle on airfare (8 people).

But if you live east of Mississauga I would think that Detroit would be a long haul...

We have gone to WDW several years in a row in August. The fares will drop later on. Right now it's waaaaay to soon. I usually book in June or July.

The prices are going crazy! I'm going with a group of 6 people( 2 A 4 K) and I need a new van anyways, we have decided to just drive down. It won't cost us more then $600 to drive as we will camp along the way. I wanted to rent a van for a day at disney so that $$ is saved. It's summer vacation and my sister and I can take the extra time needed and not worry.

I booked with Air Tran in Feb for Aug 21 & 27. I was able to get the fare of $259.40/pp with direct flights. The fare has gone up to $524.40/pp a difference of $265 per person. Evan with the higher price, it is still cheaper to fly out of Buffalo. Air Canada today has increased they fares by $10 for the fuel charge.

Kept checking your flight times, Air Tran has changed each of the flights a couple of times since Feb.

You have to be flexible and I find if you move a little further away from the border like Rochester, Pittsburgh, Youngstown, Ohio you can find better deals. It's all the Canadians that are fed up paying all the taxes and surcharges. We are flying out on Saturday morning for March break and got one way fares with Allegiant out of Youngstownfor $44.00 one way. Total $124.00rt. Flying family of 4 to St.Petersburgh/Clearwater for $496.00.

i have not notice them incress that much still a whole lot cheaper than flying out of Toronto

Flying in May out of Buffalo with Southwest Air. I paid $160 for each leg using the web only fare. It has gone up since I booked so I'm happy I booked out flights!

webworm knows his stuff. Be flexible if you can, look further south for other airports. Look for sales or dates that have low demand.

The price of oil is pushing all airfares up. I'll drive myself crazy trying to second guess when to book for August visit!

I've been searching for august flights for 6 people and they have been high and each time I check they get higher. Would like to fly SW or Jetblue but $$ will be the decider.
Question? If you book with Southwest and the price drops will they honour the lower price and give you a refund/ credit?

If you find a good deal for the flights esp Sept 4 & 5 (labour day) weekend you should go ahead and book.

We did not want to drive to Detroit but the Buffalo fares are really too high and we bit the bullet.

$84 one way on Airtran and Delta.

Living in Niagara Falls NY, I thank all of you for helping our economy! BUT, the airfares are so high because of all the Canadian traffic. My DH had to fly home into Rochester this weekend because it is your Spring Break:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I booked air fare 2 weeks ago, for our may trip, it was the web special on SW, we got tickets for the four of us for 880.00 return, i am pretty happy.

Good deal!!! Thats what I want.... I think I just need to be patient and let the spring breaks and oil crisis thing settle down a bit..

Well, I was finding the same thing so I checked Hotwire for a package price. We got BUF to MCO, May10 to 17, including staying at the Embassy Suites Lake Buena Vista which includes a fairly decent buffet breakfast for the 4 of us 1322/total all taxes in. When I checked AirTran on it's own it was almost that much just for the flights-there was no way I could put it together for that price. Perhaps you want to check it that way, they have lots of hotel options for the packages and you can choose where you stay when you bundle it into a package, it's not blind bidding like it is for just the hotel-fyi
