Found a great one way flight for our honeymoon $199 total for two of us...the only problem is that this is on Southwest flying out of Buffalo. How often do you choose flying out of the US rather than YYZ? Is it worth the drive? (2.5 hrs vs. 1 hr) Do you ever use a towncar service or do you drive yourself?

Just trying to figure out if the savings will be worth it.

We drive to Buffalo from Ingersoll all the time....totally worth it! Besides the major money savings you also benefit b/c Buffalo airport is small and very user friendly! We usually do a park and fly hotel the night before but you can park right at the airport.

We always fly out of the US! Prices seem to always be best this way.

I always check prices from both BUF and YYZ. BUF usually wins!! Even though there is the drive involved, the savings are usually big enough to easily justify it. BUF is a great, little airport. We have never had problems and are always amazed at the ease and difference between BUF and the chaos of YYZ!!. You have options for parking...either do a stay and park at a nearby hotel where you stay the night before and they shuttle to to and from the airport while they keep your car. Or park directly at the airport....using coupon online is $8/day.

Last we tried Detroit and it was great! We got better times this year so we're flying out of Buffalo. We're right next door to Ingersoll so either way you'd be fine.

We did T.O. on our first trip but the taxes?????!??!??!?!??!? Ugh!

Hey Princessbelle. We're just down 19 from you :) We have gone Detroit and Buffalo. It's WAY cheaper than Pearson & definitely worth the drive. For us, DTW is about 3 hours door-to-door. Buffalo is closer to 2 1/2 IIRC. Buffalo is smaller & aprking cheaper but I find DTW really easy to navigate and park, and it's super easy to get to if you cross at Sarnia. We usually do DTW because we've gotten cheaper pricing from there and you get mroe flight options. We've done AirTran, Southwest and American from DTW, and Delta from BUF.

PM me if I can help at all. From this thread, I'm realizing we've got alot of "Oxford" DISers here. Maybe we should have a meet sometime.

I've seen another Woodstock Diser on these boards! It's a small world after all!

We live in the GTA and Pearson is closest -- but Buffalo is so much cheaper. Because we're DVC members we book well in advance, and so at this point we have four trips booked. Only at March break might we consider using Pearson, and even then I'm not sure. When you're facing $700 (incl. taxes) for a return ticket YYZ-MCO, per person :scared1: , well the Buffalo departures win hands down.
I'm getting us return tickets on average for $200 per person - even when you throw in a hotel the night before, you're still well ahead of the game.

Thanks everyone for all the great advice! Im off to book our flight right now!!

Its great to hear so many from the woodstock area! We're actually from Guelph but we're getting married at the Elm Hurst Inn so we'll be leaving from Ingeroll to BUF...

Just noticed your signature! Congratulations. The Elm Hurst is a beautiful place for a wedding.

Thanks to everyone for their input! We went ahead and booked a wicked rate on Southwest..came out to 398 for two of us taxes in for a nonstop roundtrip! That's such a savings compared to flying out of YYZ...now all that's left to do is countdown the remaining 83 days!! :rotfl:
