Buena Vista Suites for $5.00/night???

I spoke too soon!

There was an email in my Spam folder stating the same. I wrote back that I would like a rate of $49 instead of the $79. We'll see what she says.

I know its not my fault for their error but I do feel bad you all are going thru this, too! My apologies!

Angel you are good!!!

I am complaining to AAA - this is one of their hotels.

it was only for 4 nights in the whole year.

now if the rate was across the board - then they could say it was a computer error.

but for only a couple of nights. No someone did it - and that someone had to work for them.

Do you ever wonder if these programmers make errors on the days their friends or families are going?

First they tell me the rate is $139.00. Then they cancel my reservation without my consent. Then they just sent me the email telling me they will offer a rate of $79.00 per night and that my reservation has been changed to that rate. Now, if I had something happen and did not canvel with 24 hours....I would be willing to bet that I would have one nights stay on my credit card. Even though I made a mistake??? I would still be charged;)

You shouldn't feel bad APOOHFN. No one is blaming you. We all saw a good opportunity to head to Disney at a bargain rate.

You've got to be kidding me! You are still the best if I get $49! :worship:

Thank you, KK & Maryland!

When I re-read my post, I realized it sounded kind of like a martyr so I do not mean to say "I"m sorry! Now everyone tell me I shouldn't be!"

I'm crossing my fingers we can all get our rooms for at least $49 like Angel did!:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

So what is next with all of this? I've been following it closely. Just curious to see if you can make them honor the rate, which I think they should. Not your mistake right? Did anyone call the cororate office and report the hang up girl??

Posters who are curious can search and look through the threads the last two times Disney had a computer error with hotel rates. Several posters listed the applicable laws.

  1. Regardless of what's said regarding rate guarantees business do not have to honor "obvious" pricing errors.
  2. A rate of $5, more than a 95% discount, would qualify under any definition.
  3. If this was a sale it would have been promoted as such.
  4. Guests who are able to book a pricing mistake didn't win a lottery. Even the bargain sites like fatwallet warn posters if a "deal" looks like a pricing mistake.
  5. Many people don't waste their time trying to capitalize on pricing mistakes. Many of those who do are just looking for some token credit, such as the rate of $79 and $49 which was offered.
  6. The representative from the hotel offered the poster a discounted rate. The poster said no they wanted the $5 rate. The employee said that wasn't an option, the reservation would be canceled. The poster said no. Sorry but at some point the employee is allowed to terminate the phone conversation. How many times does the employee have to say NO? The poster is entitled to write a letter of complaint or even to try and sue. The poster isn't entitled to keep an employee on the phone until they say no.

umm... thanks I guess. It seemed rude to have someone hang up on you. I 'm not sure, but I think the website said price was guarenteed. I'm not a lawyer, nor did I check other threads with laws quoted. As I said I was curious.

I feel like you are talking down to me, and or angry with my post. This was my first post on this matter. Have I offended with my post?? Let me know what I said to make you upset?

SORRY, NO. I quoted your post but most of post wasn't intended for you. A $5 rate is an obvious mistake. A business that offered a rate that low, intentionally, would be promoting it as a special sale. Customers saw a mistake and jumped on it. People were offered a special discount, $79 or $49. Posters can either accept the discount or cancel their reservation.

Assume the hotel doesn't have to honor the rate. Assume they're not going to honor the rate. How long does the employee have to keep saying no before they're allowed to terminate the phone call? A customer insists the hotel honor the $5 rate. At some point the hotel employee is justified in hanging up.

IMO there is never any justification for an employee of any business to hang up on someone :confused3

Do you think it's OK for the employee to say something like I'm sorry I can't help you and then terminate the phone call?

The customer says I want the $5 rate, the employee says I'm sorry that reservation has been cancelled. The customer says your $79 offer isn't acceptable I want the $5 rate. The employee again says the $5 rate is not available. How long does the employee have to keep repeating the same thing before it's OK to terminate the phone call?

The employee doesnt 'have' to keep repeating anything but hanging up on someone for any reason is considered rude and an employee of a business to do so is even ruder IMO again.

Just sit there in silence if you have to but an employee should never be the one to initiate the hanging up sorry but that is how I feel

Anybody else get any $49 offers yet or are they sticking with the $79 per night?

I just email back today from Lora Marler, the Reservation Manager:

Again, I apologize for the inconvenience with the rate error. We are diligently researching the issue with our software support department.

We can offer the $79.00 discounted rate for reservations that were confirmed at the erroneous rate. This rate will still include the full American buffet breakfast and complimentary shuttle to Walt Disney World.

Thank you
.

I'm going to keep it for now.
