That is awful. It doesn't matter if it is a computer glitch or not. They should honor the rate. I am not an attorney, but from a pure customer service stand point it should be honored. Not to mention, hanging up on someone. There is absolutely no excuse for that to happen.
We had a problem with a hotel (their shuttle made us miss our flight) anyway DH got on the phone a few times with them and argued them into giving us something for our trouble and expense. The manager finally gave in and agreed to 5 nights at their hotel. We used the certificate 2 years ago.
I'd suggest paying half the fee if they won't honor the $5.00. Still you should find out BBB policy on this kind of thing.
Same spiel on the machine when I got home. Computer error. $139 is what they can give it to me. Call them back if I want that rate... and if I don't?! I'm not doing anything yet.
Don't mean to jump in on your conversation but if I can make any suggestions -
Find out where corporate offices are and call the president/owner and complain stating that no where on the confirmation is there a "subject to change" clause after making a confirmed reservation nor on the website. In addition, remind them that no where on their website there's a clause that states something like "due to technical difficulties, sometimes prices may be incorrect.....'
And, push, push, push the fact that it states they guarantee their confirmed prices. Furthermore, elude to the fact that if this price is not honored, then accuse them of falsly advertising their hotel & rates for the sole purpose of entising customers.....And, as a consumer, you will take it to the next level if need be.....Maybe that would rattle them?
Ultimately, I think local laws apply but I found this on a website and hope the wording can help you in your situation.
"Guest Reservations
Most hotels have well-established policies for making, confirming, and holding reservations placed by prospective guests. A confirmed reservation generally constitutes a binding agreement (in essence, a "reservation contract") between the hotel and prospective guest. If the guest fails to use the reservation, the hotel is generally entitled to damages. On the other hand, if the hotel breaches a reservation contract, the guest can sue the hotel for damages. If the hotel actually has accommodations available but fails to supply them as agreed, it may be liable for breach of its duties as an innkeeper.
Hotel overbooking often presents problems, and many hotels have adopted a pledge that requires their assistance in securing comparable accommodations, if, for any reason, a room should not be available for a patron who holds a valid confirmed reservation. A few states have enacted legislation that addresses hotel overbooking. Florida's law, for example, makes the hotel responsible for "every effort" to find alternate accommodations and up to a $500 fine for each guest turned away because of the over-booking."
Here is the address for the BBB in orlando. I am filing a complaint. I hope others do this too. They have to have 3 complaints before it will be listed.

This same situation happened at BWI last year. Through a computer glitch guests were able to book single nights in a specific room type + single day park admission for about the cost of the admission ticket. The Board went nuts!! Anyway, I know that Disney did NOT honour those reservations, even though they had been PAID IN FULL at the time of booking. Some of you might want to mosey on over to the resort board and see if you can dig up that old thread. I don't know if anybody actually filed a claim against them with BBB (somehow, I highly doubt it; WDW seems to be held to a lower service standard than everybody else simply because it's DISNEY!!).
Might help you out in your quest to get BVS to honour their rate.
Am I the only one that thinks this is wrong?? If the mistake was not it these people's favor ie they were over charged would it be right for the company to keep the extra?
Not wrong but how many different types of fares are there on airlines and how many different discount rates for hotel rooms and rental cars are there? If you are lucky enough to get a DING fare on Southwest, why shouldn't one be lucky enough to get a discounted room rate on a hotel's website. Last year we met friends on a Southwest flight to Florida (not planned). It turned out we were on the same returning flight as them and we both rented minivans from Dollar Car Rental. They paid more for their flights than we did. I had a Mousesavers rate for $199 week at Dollar. They paid over $350 for the same size car. They stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge on a cash reservation. We stayed at Boardwalk Villas on our DVC points. Should I be penalized because I searched out ways to save money on our trips. Just a thought.
Just got another e-mail from BVS: "We are in receipt of a reservation(s) that was made via our website on April 19th or 20th, 2007. Due to a computer glitch an erroneous rate was published on the website. The actual published rate is $119.00 per night plus tax. (then why were other people quoted $139 when they got their phone call?We will extend a discounted rate of $79.00 per night plus tax for the inconvenience but will not be honoring the erroneous rate. Your reservation is now confirmed at the rate of $79.00 per night plus tax. If you would like to cancel your reservation please contact our Reservations Department at 800-537-7737 or 407-239-8588. Please accept our sincere apologies and thank you for your understanding with this matter." Oh what to do!
I booked the 11 & 12 of October then added the 13 & 14 at 129.00. Well when they called they offered me 79.00 I said no, finally got them down to 49.00 and it looks like they changed all four nights to 49.00
I have not heard from BVS yet but I'm sure it's just a matter of time...I did get another email confirmation today but it did not mention nor did it show the $5.00 rate. In fact, it didn't show any rate.
