The Hilton Buena Vista Palace seems to have officially added two things as they complete their renovation. The first is the addition to "Hilton" in the title. The second is a $25/night resort fee.

"Daily Resort Charge will be added to the room rate and includes: Guest internet access; Disney park shuttle; daily sun-care product; 2 domestic draft beer or 2 house wines or 2 non-alcoholic 12oz drinks daily; float lagoon access; 10% off spa services; local/toll-free/domestic long distance calls."

Self-parking remains free. Valet parking is offered at $21/night.

We saw this coming ;) I expect to see the parking as soon as they get those gates installed.

I was going to "like" your post, but decided I didn't want anyone thinking I like resort fees or parking charges.

I was surprised that they took the "Hilton" name. Although it wasn't a perfect fit, I expected the Buena Vista Palace to become part of Hiltons' Curio Collection. Having two Hiltons across the street from each other is a bit silly.

Another thought I had is that the Hilton Lake Buena Vista might be leaving the chain. Across the last 3ish years I've stayed there, it seems as though they do the bare minimum in terms of maintaining the place. I could see it as a Radisson or perhaps a lesser known chain like Sonesta.

I think we've talked about this before, Hilton leaving brand. The fact that Doubletree got a beautiful makeover but they aren't making the Hilton owner do anything to that very old decor makes it look probable. At this point a resort fee at the old Hilton plus parking is a joke compared to Palace new pool area and free parking.

About a year ago I read several Hilton brands in Orlando were not renewing. My fear is a foreign purchase with no brand commitment like on I drive. No corporate obligation to maintain.

The resort itself is actually really nice - especially with the recent renovation. There are a few odd things architecture-wise, and a little bit didn't get fixed. But, you should really enjoy it. Definitely get a tower room if you can. The balcony and view is a nice perk. The new pool area is really great, too (and walking distance to DS).
