Just booked this hotel off Hotwire for a short spur of the moment trip next week. I have always stayed on site, but we got this room for really cheap so it was hard to pass up, plus it's just a short trip with me and DH so as long as I got to go, I wasn't going to complain about staying offsite.

Anyone stay there before?? From the website it looks really nice and it's not far from the parks, so using our one car won't be too bad.

This resort gets mixed reviews. It is actually on Disney property and across the street from Downtown Disney Marketplace. We stayed here for a few nights and thought it was great. The hotel is elegant inside with plenty of places to just sit and relax. A little on the tired side, it could use a little work, but I am not one of those snobs that you will find here that will pick apart anything that isn't 100% perfect. The pool area and grounds are also nice.
What is great about this hotel like all the hotels of Downtown Disney, they have buses that run all day and night that will bring you to the parks and back. There is no extra charge, you don't have to sign up in advance, and in my opinion, they are nicer and a lot more comfortable than the plastic seated buses you get from Disney.
I think you will like this hotel.
Call the hotel prior to arrival and ask for a "Fireworks View" room. We were on the 19th floor and could see the fireworks at Magic Kingdom from our balcony

I have stayed there several times on Priceline wins. I never had any major issues. (Safe didn't work one time, but)

I am like f7prez, I don't spend a lot of time looking for things to complain about. I travel a lot and kind of have developed a pretty good tolerance for hotels. The location is great and the pool is very nice.

I have always gotten a king room and really liked it. I don't hesitate to recommend it, but I know at least one poster who will probably be by to trash it later......

Thanks for the replies, I was reading some reviews on Tripadvisor and getting a little worried. My husband and I travel alot and usually get pretty nice rooms, but we are also not very picky.

We will only be there for 3 nights and with only 2 days in the parks I don't think we will be in the room much anyway.

I would rather take buses then drive our car since we are major park hoppers and like the break that the bus/monorail rides offer.

I'm just really excited about going!!! I've had alot of stress in my life the past few months with building a house that's STILL not done so I NEED to get away for a couple of days!!

I stayed there before. It is great because it is very convenient to downtown disney and it is a nice hotel. I wasn't impressed with the pool, but everything else was fine. The staff was very nice to my child too.

I think we were really lucky when we stayed there last year. Ended up with a huge room (on the suites side) which yes i agree was a bit tired but was fine for sleepin and afternoon breaks. All i can say is if you do come across any problems, let the staff know. They were generally great and were very willing to help. I hate it when ppl complain about a hotel room that they've stayed in their whole holiday and not even made staff aware of their concerns. Give them a chance to sort stuff out.

It's absolutely brilliant location and bus service make it really stand out from most orlando hotels. :thumbsup2

Anyway, who cares- you're going to disney world :woohoo:

We spent our honeymoon there, 20 years ago this September. We haven't stayed there since but have often visited the restaurants. We'd stay there again in a heartbeat if the price was right and it sounds like yours is.

It was the first hotel we stayed at when we went to Disney. I have fond memories of it. :)

ISn't that the Wyndham palace? If it is, we call it the Dungeon. 'nuf said.

The Dungeon??? We loved it!! The room was nice, clean and big, the busses were on time, didn't use the pool, but it looked nice.....

just got back last night and will post a trip report later......but need to unpack and do some errands now.....(I hate coming home!!!)

Well if Wyndham isnt opperating it anymore, the problems we had could very well be a non-issue anymore......Good Luck!

It is still owned by Wyndham, but they upgraded it to their luxury property category and discontinued the The Wyndham by request program. All Wyndham luxury properties are discontinued by the program.

Great. I definitely thought it was a decent place and loved the location. The only thing that I really didn't care for was the pool and the buses coming back from the park...I hated meeting at the parking spot in the parking lots and having to squeeze on the bus. But, other than that, I would stay there again.

I loved being the first pick-up and drop-up on the bus route though. That was NICE!

Why do you call the Dungeon? I never got that impression of the place. I am very curious to know what I might have missed.

Does this hotel qualify for EMH?? thanks

Nope, that's the only dowfall I can see because it was a great hotel. My husband and I loved it.

thanks - kind of bummed to know this - as we booked our hotel room already and thought we were going to get EMH. :hourglass

I just got back from staying there. Don't get the dungeon statement either :confused3 .

Our room was bright, renovated and had a great view of all of WDW!!
I do have a few pictures if you're interested I can email them to you.

There are three parts. The island, which is closer to the pool and self parking and will not have a view of WDW. And two towers, one goes up 27 floors with Author's 27 lounge on top that has incredible views! You can see Epcot, MGM & MK fireworks from there. The restaurant up there is closed for renovations but the lounge is open.

The other tower goes up 12 florrs, we were on 10 and had spectacular views.
They have a wonderful restaurant called the Outback (not the chain), it's very good but expensive.
The location was wonderful!!
