Budgeting time for table service

Normally we plan on spending about an hour in most table service restaurants. I read Rodeo Roundup is notorious for taking longer. In February Prime Time took longer, but not Space 220. Any restaurant experiences recently in the past 6 months where you spent well over on hour completing the meal? We don’t want to be caught off guard-

Rodeo Round Up brings food right away, so for me, it was a quicker than normal meal. I think folks might sometimes want it to take longer because it is AYCTE.

I always allow 90 minutes for a regular TS, longer for a signature. We ate at Rodeo Roundup in early April and it was pretty quick as they plopped all of the food on our table at once which wasn't terribly enjoyable . . .

I do not think we have ever spent less than 90 minutes at a TS. Space 220 was easily 2 hours for us. With wanting to budget 60 minutes for a meal you would be far better served looking at CS. If I had to guess the majority of CS we eat at are close to an hour if not at least with getting food sitting down and eating.

I think it also depends on your eating habits. If you’re the type of person that comes in and orders entrees with a soda immediately, you might be able to make an hour work.

Our family typically orders drinks or apps at signature dining restaurants, so 90-120 minutes is more appropriate.

I agree.

And even worse that taking waaaay too long is when they try to rush you. Nothing bugs me more than getting the next course while I'm still eating my current course.

What we typically do now is order drinks, after drinks are served we'll order appetizers, keep the menu and order the main either when apps are served or sometime after. We're not ordering dessert until after we've eaten our mains.

I'm not playing the game where I get my drink after I get my app, then entree is served 2 minutes after my app is dropped off.

I’m shocked- after numerous trips we are usually down in an hour. Only exception has been character meals where we waited on the characters and Prime Time. We been done in about an hour in Space 220, Crystal Palace, Brown Derby, Be Our Guest. Maybe it’s because we generally know the menu and what we want. Has it changed this much since February?

Most TS we have been to have been about an hour. Including Space 220. With mobile order QS has been 30-45 minutes. But we haven’t been in 6 months. We want to be able to ride things after Rodeo Roundup.

Ok I need to be more specific- how long in general have you waited in Via Napoli, Rodeo Roundup, and Yak and Yeti

You can look at reviews on TripAdvisor and recent YouTube videos (most vloggers don’t mention how long it took them). Most of the reviews for Roundup Rodeo say it took them 2 hours. Why not book it for the end of the night so you don’t have to worry about being too full to ride RnRC or TOT.

Space220 took us 2.5 hrs when it opened. If you need to be out quick walk up or mobile ordering is the way to go.

If it’s adults only, then it’s possible to get out in a little over an hour

It took Tim Tracker about 2.5 hrs

We always go to Y&Y because DD16 loves it. I feel like it takes forever for the food to arrive there. I'd give Y&Y 1.5 to 2hrs.

Rushing is a pet peeve of mine at table service restaurants. Enjoying the immersive theme of the restaurant is important. I never order entrees until I get my alcohol beverage or apps.

Once seated, Via Napoli is generally very quick - at least with the pizzas -- they cook so fast in that wood-fired oven. We waited probably 10 min to be sat - they don't do online check-in so there's usually a line at the podium. Yak and Yeti was super fast a couple weeks ago. with minimal wait to be seated (we went early ~11). I haven't been to Roundup Rodeo. I always try to share with the server what kind of experience we're looking for before or as we order -- either we have a lightning lane at x time or are hoping to catch the fireworks or that we're hoping to take our time and relax. The server, of course, isn't in complete control of everything in the kitchen or their other tables but 9 times out of 10 they do their best to help you accomplish your goals. We're always realistic and also factor in some buffer time for anything we really want/need to do. I don't want to be stressed during any meal ... I love food too much. :rotfl: I wouldn't shy away from sharing your plans (nicely) up front and I bet your server will do what they can to deliver. Have fun!!

Probably also depends on what you plan to do AFTER dinner is over. Even if you have a TS reservation, you may have to wait a few minutes to be seated. Once you place your order the amount of time to get your food varies by restaurant, how busy they are, etc. At someplace like O'hana the food is served family style and there is a fixed menu so the wait time will be different from a place where everyone orders their own entree from the menu. Some people also eat faster. If you plan to sit at the pool or return to your room after dinner, not sure how long dinner takes will really matter.

Exactly why now we plan on dining at Via Napoli after Candlelight Processional instead of before.

We are 2 adults & have our favorite restaurants we eat at most trips. We’re not adventurous eaters so we don’t need a lot of time with the menus. Most table service meals take us about an hour. So far this year we were @ WDW in late January, Easter weekend & 4th of July week, so not slow times of year. We did not notice any difference in the time our meals took from other trips.

We ate at Roundup Rodeo on July 5th. I haven’t watched the Tim Tracker review posted by the PP. But I can’t imagine taking 2.5 hours for that meal. Unless you have an allergy meal or other specific dietary restriction, your food isn’t being prepared especially for you, so there isn’t a lot of time between courses. You don’t even have a lot of decisions to make before you order. The only restaurant that has ever taken us 2.5 hours was Monsieur Paul. But that is 5 courses, plus a welcome cocktail, an intermezzo & ends with a sherry & small candies, served after coffee & dessert. It is meant to take a long time & you know that going in.
