I understand that the ship's duty free shop sells Tortuga Rum Cakes. Are they the same price as if you buy them at the shops in Grand Cayman? And on a related note, how much are they?

It would be so much more convenient not to have to shlep them all over the island!, but my cheapness gene demands that I not pay more for them than necessary!

Also, can you get Tortuga rum at the on board duty free (since we are not allowed to purchase it on the island?)

Thanks for your help!

We ended up getting them in the ships store. They were more expensive than in Grand Cayman but not a great deal more. In our case it was we needed one more gift and thought we would find it in cozumel and didn't so the rum cake was a "filler". If I recall it was a difference of only a few dollars.

Tortuga Rum Cakes can be purchased from their web site. Might help get an idea as to a higher cost. They also have a reat Cook Book.

There's a Tortuga Rum cake store right at the end of the dock. We purchased one last week for $4.95 just before we got in line for the tender to go back to the ship so we didn't have to carry it around. I don't recall what they cost on the ship. You can also purchase the rum there and they will deliver it to the ship for you but it has to be bought no later than one hour before all aboard.

Mom says make a pound cake and dump a cup of rum over it and it tastes the same.

Guess she wasn't really impressed with them!
