this is my first post in this section, my husband and family friends have decided to help me redo my wish trip 2000 I believe. My FIL and step MIL are wanting to help with our costs while there. So that we don't need to use the credit card while down there. I have been trying to figure out how much should we budget for. So far they estimated 2000 for the four of us going. We will be gone 8 days 7 nights staying t art of animation. We got the one ts meal and one quick service dinning plan. So this cash will be for extras, tips, and suveniours.

We will be flying out with westjet. And my mother helped with the cost of that for us.

Since the DDP still leaves you paying OOP for one meal a day, and you'll probably ly also be paying for some drinks and meals on travel days, I'd probably estimate $100/day.

I agree with minnie mum, you won't need very much since you're on the dining plan. You'll need money to cover an extra meal, tips for your TS meals, and depending on how much of a souvenir shopper you are but that's not a necessity. Also, not sure when you're going but perhaps either tickets to MNSSHP or MVMCP, which could run a family of 4 between $300 - $325 assuming 2A,2C. There are ways to be frugal at Disney or ways to indulge, you have to decide how you want to vacation.

There are a couple of ways to be a little frugal with the DDP if 2 meals per day is not enough.
1. Pay OOP for breakfast....it's the cheapest meal
2. Bring breakfast items from home that you can eat in your room...this is actually a huge time saver in the morning.
3. Have the dessert that comes with the TS meal packed up to go and eat that the next morning

Also, bring a few snack items from home that will travel well(things like granola bars). It's always good to have something in your room or in your bag.

Doing things like I've mentioned will easily keep your daily cash down to $100 or less but doesn't cut into the fun factor.

I would also suggest that with kids you give them a souvie budget. Each child gets X amount and when it's gone it's gone. Depending on your kids it may also be a good idea to not allow any purchases until closer to the end of the vacay. I'm sure we've all bought something at the beginning and then found something we liked better later on.

I hope you have a great trip!!!pixiedust:

Our family of 4 (me, DW, and 2, at the time teen aged, DDs) typically put around $800-$1000 US on our account (tips, t-shirts,everything else) for our 7 night stays. Last year DW and I went alone and spent about $800 US for 7 nights. That included tips, several clothing items for us and the kids, a few small gifts, gratuities, etc. We usually have the DDP/Free Dining and typically have a glass of wine with dinner. Unless you buy a lot of souvenirs and stuff, I think $2000 should be fine.

Thank you all for the suggestions, it's going to be four adults going. Two of which will be providing attendant care for me so that my husband can enjoy the trip without having to do all my care.

I have multiple disabilities so we are doing this trip now that I'm as stable as I will ever be while we still can travel. The budget so far was 35 for mousekeeping, 200 for tips and groceries for meals, 1600 for everything else. That worked out as 50 dollars per person per day.

My mother in law had already bought us tickets to the mnsshp event for the Tuesday we are there. We have booked 6 of the 7 sit down meals already, but we are still trying to figure out are plans for the Wednesday I have not booked any meals for that day yet.

We always budget $100/day - some are $60 and some are $140. We don't get the dining plan, and we only have one or two table service meals a trip. We prefer counter service. There are only 3 of us - but my son and I are souvenir spenders :)

We order from gardengrocer.com. They deliver to the resorts. We get a case of water, snacks, and breakfast items. Are you staying in a suite at AoA? If so you will have a kitchenette area with a microwave and small fridge. There is a delivery fee and some of the prices are a little higher than what I pay at home. However it is worth it to me for the convenience. It is cheaper and has more options than the resort shop.

Have fun! We loved AoA!

I like to budget 125 to 150 per day some days you may not spend much other days a little more so it usually works out well for us with the same dining plan , we most trips have 4 of us 2 adults and 2 grand children, have a fantastic trip!
