Budget Trip to Boston

Thank you everyone for the great suggestions. They have been a huge help. Of course we can always count on the Dis.....
Most of the trip is all planned out except were to eat Friday before the concert. And to add another night to the hotel. We are planning on getting to the Gillette early enough to eat dinner.....Any Suggestions for 4 adults (2 19yr. olds)to eat.

The plan is to drop off my DD and her friend around 5pm. They're 19 and we didn't want them to drive it themselves that's why we are going to. So, we decided to make a partial weekend out of it. Now my DH and I need to fill our time between when we drop them off at 5pm until the concert gets out. Any suggestions???

Now the girls have thrown a curve ball in our plans. They were just able to get tickets for the Saturday concert too. I couldn't say no to the Saturday show considering they are only paying $50 each for their really good seats. (paid $189.00 each for Friday' concert).

There are some very good places right at Patriot Place to eat. I've eaten at Tavolino's & Bar Louie and enjoyed them both. If eating at Tavolino's I recommend ordering the lunch portion - even that size was large enough that I took enough home for lunch the next day. CBS Scene, Davio's and Skip Jacks and Toby Keith's Bar & Grill are all also very popular. For a more "budget" meal there is a red robin, Five Guys and Capriotti's Sandwich Shop. For a short ride to the south market via the transport bus you can also go to Olive Garden.

If you are willing to walk a ways there are a couple of nice restaurants on Route 1 away from the stadium.

To kill some time there is also Showcase Cinemas. There is a deluxe option where you can eat dinner and have drinks (and not out of a paper cup) while you watch the movie. According to the website the are running movies during the concerts.

Toby Keith also offers entertainment most weekends but I'm not sure if that will be happening during the concert.

Many of the shops at Patriot Place, such as BassPro, will actually be open during the concert; others will close. The one that definitely closes will be Staples. Check the hours for the other stores online.

Just wanted to post that traffic started backing up at 3 PM today despite torrential rain, lightning and hail. By 4:15 as you head North on route 1 (from 495) the traffic had backed up to to about 1.75 miles before the stadium. Now the traffic may have been complicated by a fire on East Street (the access road to/from 140) that started during the rain.

On another note. If you see a cop walking out into the flow of traffic - STOP. Really. Someone almost ran over a State police officer in front of my building this afternoon as he was stopping traffic to let me out. She missed him by less than a foot. He read her the riot act and threatened to give her a ticket.
