Budget shuttle to terminal

Do you need to reserve the shuttle in advance when you drop off your car or do they run continuously?

Also, when you return from your cruise , does Budget run a shuttle back to their location so you can rent again for your trip back to MCO?

I'm traveling w/my parents who are in their 70's and thinking what will be most convenient for them and avoid the hustle & bustle as much as possible. I'm thinking I could drop them off at port w/the luggage...I could then go return the car & hop on the shuttle back to port? Is this doable?

Thanks for all feedback :sunny:

When we went last September, we waited for the shuttles to bring us to the port about 30 minutes. The return trip was horrible. We waited for over an hour in the tent with DS-4 and I was pregnant at the time. Finally, the Hertz shuttle driver told us that Budget doesn't even start their shuttle until after 10am and he took us to the Budget location along with other Budget customers.

I have heard that Budget has fixed this since then.

I've used Budget several times and did not have this problem. My DH dropped us at the terminal with the luggage and I checked all of us in. He was back at the terminal in less than 30 minutes. If you are concerned about your parents, maybe you could take the shuttle over to Budget when you return and get the car and go back to the terminal and get you parents yourself. WHile they might have to wait for you to return they would not have to climb in and out of the van.

NYGiantsRule!,
Was the shuttle for Budget running before 10:00? That seems terribly late! We are using Budget for the first time on our upcoming trip and now I am worried!

The latest you can get off the ship is 9AM. If the shuttle doesn't start running until after 10AM that would be an hour wait. I have never waited more than 10 minutes for the shuttle.

As of May, 2004 they had NOT, I repeat NOT fixed the problem with their shuttle. What really ticked me off is that we were told, both directions, that there were two shuttles running, won't be long, blah, blah, blah, when actually there was ONE shuttle running and it took a ridiculous amount of time. If they had just been honest we would have made other arrangements, but when you are told by staff that the other shuttle will "be here any minute" you [apparently foolishly] believe them. We waited over 30 minutes before being picked up at the Budget office (after falling for the "there's only one family waiting, two shuttles running" story) then well over an hour to be picked up at the port. Same situation there -- one family waiting when we came out, but we had to wait a looong time before we saw a shuttle. Large family with a lot of luggage and it would be tricky for us to fit so the driver tells us that "the other shuttle will be here any minute" so we wait.....and wait.....and wait. The same driver shows back up finally. I am not sure that I will use Budget in the future. Cheapest rates are not worth standing in the heat in a parking lot waiting and waiting.

When we cruised in May, it took about 20-30 mintues for the shuttle to take me back to the ship.

On the return trip we walked over to the white tent & the shuttle was already there. I would guess this was about 8:30am...

Had same shuttle driver both times.

I know some people on our cruise waited a long time for the shuttle after us.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr....that would be us. ;) Waited forEVER and had to cram way more people into the van than you were supposed to. My husband and I both had a kid on our lap. We were off the ship by 8:45. And I felt really bad for the long line of people behind us!!

Are there taxis there that can take you to the Budget office? Or do you have to call for a taxi ahead of time. If there are taxis just waiting outside for people, that might be a better option for us.

Thanks for all the informative replies....I'm glad I posted this. I am always leary of shuttle service. I wouldn't mind taking a taxi to/from the Budget office...does anyone know if they're readily available and waiting at the port.

I had a Budget reservation and cancelled it in favor of National. No shuttle service but they have a negotiated taxi fare to and from the port. What I saved on the rental MORE than makes up the $11.00 taxi cost. Now I just have to remember to get the taxi company's number so I can call for pick-up before we leave the ship on Nov. 18th.

Excellent!! Thanks for letting us know!! I usually rent with National too -- definitely doing that next time. :)

Let us know how this all works out... I am very interested.... we are renting with Budget later this year but have made other arrangements regarding pick up and drop off but may not have the same options on the next trip.

WE also had problems on previous cruises with the Budget shuttle taking too long after we got off the ship....this past Feb there was a long line waiting for budget shuttle and there was a taxi by the white tent area just sitting there. We asked if he was in service and he said yes and took us right to budget for $8.00.

I just came back on 7/9 using budget. It was about 1/2 hour wait before the shuttle showed up. Saw Avis and Hertz come and go a few times while waiting. This time I reserved Avis coming home. It will cost me $5 extra but I won't have to wait as long.

Do you mean that reserved an Avis shuttle to take you from the port back to the airport? I would appreciate having their number. We are catching an 11:20 flight Sat. morning and need to make sure we have transportation waiting.

Thank you so much!:wave2:
