I wanted to thank all of you that post all the great deals I've found here on the Budget Board. If this board was political we would rule the world!!
My DH has a long work commute and this year we have spent a ton of $$ on GAS, GAS and more GAS! So this has definitely been a budget kind of year for us. I haven't been out of the house for a LONG time so I was really looking forward to a shopping trip and dinner out! Hopefully you can glean some information too.

Me, DH, DS-14, DD-12 and DD-8
I picked up the kids from school at 3 and headed to the city. They were looking forward to this night out and their 4 day week-end. Our first stop was Super Walmart. I let them get a McDonalds snack. With one reading coupon for a free happy meal I only spent $2 for 2 cheeseburgers. I got the usual toiletries and grocery items and really the only deal I found was 2 black rolling duffels (gifts) for $12 each. Reg price was $20 or $25. I was happy with that. My total came to $90 but I got it down to $80 with coupons.
We then headed to Target to pick up those princess TV's and DVD player. Thanks to those who posted. I had called and asked them to put those aside for me, only hoping they would. I thought for sure they wouldn't, but they had them right there in front when I come in. A good deal, and now I just have to remember to send in that rebate. I tried to hide them from the kids as best as I could, not sure I succeeded! I told the kids to promise to at least act surprised Christmas morning. They said they would!
Then we went to Kohls. I really wanted to spend time shopping for myself here but my DS had wanted new Vans shoes for 3 months now so we picked those up. Reg price was $59.99 I got them for $36.99. If anyone knows how to get these cheaper let me know. Ug.
I needed to pick up my JCPenney catalog. My DS stayed to browse in the guys section and he found Vans for $24 on his own. I have taught him well! He liked those better anyway so it was a win win situation and I get to go back to Kohls-Yaaaaah for me. I took the girls upstairs to check out the clearance racks. I found 4 t-shirts for $1.77 each for DD-8. Those denim shorts that were on sale for .77c a month ago and were now down to .47c. I picked up 6-8 pair (at that price it doesn't matter) of those and my total came to $10.
DH then called to say he was done work and heading to Olive Garden to meet us there. We have to be in the mood for pasta and bread because we tend to always order the same thing. We were and we were also starving. The three kids shared two chicken strip meals that came with drinks and sides. They picked one chili and one tuscano soup. DH and I both had salad. He ordered the lasagna and I had fettucine. Everything was good and we had more than our share of those yummy bread sticks. Our bill came to $36 and after my two MyPoints GC's it brought it down to $16 plus tip. A great inexpensive meal for a family of five!!
DH took DS and DD-8 home and DD-12 and I went to ToysRus. They had a ton of green tagged toys (that's %50 off) and I found a Quantum Leap Pad for DD-8. Check out your ToysRus for tons of clearanced stuff. She has been begging for one of these forever. I know she's a little on the old side but I think she'll still love it. What do you think? I also picked up a Bionicle Game Cube game for DS for $10. I had a $5 coupon off of a $25 purchase ( again from this board-thank you), so my total was $25. The nice cashier said I could get $5 off a Leap Pad game (clearance or not) with my purchase. They didn't have any age appropriate ones in the clearance isle so I passed. It came with a nice educational one, so that will have to do for now. If anyone has a Barbie kareoke machine they had clips for $1.48.
We stopped at ShopKo but found nothing. Can't win'em all!
I went back to Target to do some thorough clearance rack shopping. My DD-12 found a tink t-shirt for $3 and two pair of jeans for $6 each. I did find some nice napkins for .74c a pack which I needed.
We were dragging by now so I headed over to another Walmart to return an item. I stocked up on milk (it's over $1 more per gallon at my local grocery store) and made it home before midnight (I was very close to turning into a pumpkin).
Besides the princess TV and DVD player at Target I didn't find tons of clearance rack finds. Which is OK money-wise. I never did make it to Sam's Club, Sears, Best Buy or Cub, but there is always next week!!
Have a great shopping week and may all your purchases be bargains!!
