Budget Rental Van Price

I just rented a mini van for 7 days with pickup at MCO for a total of $359.27. This was the best price I could find at this time so I booked it (used some codes). What do you think the chances are that the price will decrease when it gets closer to the trip?

I keep reading to check prices within 2-3 weeks of the trip. Has anyone had experience with this and getting a better rate?

Not with Budget but yes keep checking.

We rented w/ Alamo (a mini van, 8 days) and yesterday we booked a last minute special (no code needed) w/ our Alamo Insider card for $187! They have new specials on Tuesdays.

I had my minivan booked through Budget as well with their travelocity code (I believe it was X474200). We needed it for two weeks and I thought the 450 plus tax was a pretty decent deal.

However, I just canceled it b/c I just went through Priceline right now and put in a bid of 20.00 a day.....and it was accepted. The minivan we got was through Hertz- and it came to 280.00 plus taxes for 14 days.

We are arriving on Feb 11 and leaving on Feb 25th.

I have never booked a van through priceline. Are you able to select type of vehicle and exact location of pick up? We want to rent from agency that has cars on-site at MCO and not have to shuttle off-site. Is this possible or is that one of the unknowns? I sure like your price better.

All rental companies that Priceline (also Hotwire) deals with are onsite at MCO. The exception was Hertz until 2010, but that changed when they moved onsite.

As for vehicle, you reserve a class, just like direct through a rental agency (ie. Minivan), what type is not guaranteed just like a direct booking.

jlewisinsyr is right....you actually are able to put in the specific airport(ie/MCO) that you wish to pick the vehicle up from along with your dates and car type selection(ie minivan)-just like you would on any of the actual car rental sites. The thing with priceline is that you have to give your bid and your credit card-so if your bid is selected that is it-you cant change your mind (although assuming you get the bid you want, you wouldn't have a need to). Unlike the rental sites where you are given a confirmation, but you don't actually put any money down or give any credit card info.

last August with Alamo I managed to get a rate just beloiw $200 for an 8 passenger toyota Sienna for 8 days. Keep checking and rate will continue to vary.
