I know it's not even Halloween yet, but please indulge me. I am a planner and have to start early. My sons have asked me to throw a Christmas party for some of their classmates (they are in third and fourth grade). There will be about 20 kids, mostly boys, but some of them have sisters that will come. I have come up with doing a Secret Santa, and a few basic party games (Magical Chairs, Pin the Tail on Rudolph, Christmas Bingo), and would like some more festive party games. I am debating serving pizza or a 6 foot hero (we have an area where parents can eat as well), and homemade Christmas cookies, cake, etc. Any other ideas that can make this party special that won't break the bank?

sounds like a nice party! The only thing I can think of is the food choice....to make it more affordable, I would serve baked rigatoni with meat sauce and one tray without meat for the people who don't like meat.

What about a caroling party? Get the kids together, pratice a few songs, and take them to a few houses or a nursing home. Come back to the house for cookies and hot chocolate. Fun, great for other and SUPER cheap!

Depending on how brave you are, you can have them decorate Christmas Cookies to take home, or find a simple ornament type craft (check at Oriental Trading.com) for them to make and take. I love the caroling idea that the pp suggested as well.

You could also let them frost/sprinkle their own Christmas cookies if you have some made up ahead of time. It is messy, but they would enjoy it.
