Hi there! 2 adults travelling early June. Will probably not spend much time in the hotel so are not too particular about hotel fanciness or amenities. Also on a budget. Can anyone recommend a decent budget hotel/motel? It can be further away but preferably either walking distance or on the ART line as we won't have a vehicle. Thanks!

Our lower-tier choices are Tropicana, Carousel and Red Lion. All are walking distance and can usually be found for $100 or a little less. If the time of year is a higher-priced season and these are over $100, we usually choose somewhere else as that's about what they are worth. If I'm going to pay more than that, I prefer to stay somewhere with a few more amenities. Doing a quick check, it looks like all 3 are over $150, I wouldn't pay that for any of them unless our medium-price choices were WAY more. We did stay at Carousel for D23 last year for more than $100 because everything was priced really high that weekend.

For Avengers Half Marathon weekend we are staying at Best Western Stovall's which is also running about $150 for first weekend in June. We haven't stayed there before but we've heard good things.

I guess it depends on what you consider "budget". :)

Motel 6 Maingate! We've stayed there many times. It is no frills and 3/4 of a mile from the park. Last time we went (January) I only paid $65 a night!

Do a search on Hotwire - I have gotten amazing deals

I thought of using hotwire as I'm a big fan of that website. My concern was the possibility of getting a hotel that is not walking distance, and also not on the ART route. If I could figure out how to avoid that I would definitely consider it!

Anaheim Islander is pretty basic and typically under $100. No frills but clean and the front desk was friendly and helpful. Its a little further away. Some feel like it is too far away to walk..it was about a 15 min walk for us but the ART is an option. We only went to the park 2 days when we stayed there and I think anymore than that we would have definitely taken ART or Uber. Walking home at the end of the 2nd day was a bit rough. ;)
You can check it out on Tripadvisor to see where and what it looks like. Sometimes calling the hotel directly can get you a better rate.
Good luck!

I stayed at the Super 8 on Katella in October last year, it was pretty decent for the price! The walk was absolutely fine for me and I liked the free breakfast options. I did have two issues, one being that I couldn't get into my room when I first arrived (understandable, it was 9am but after a 14 hour flight I really wanted a shower) and then when I finally got to my room, there was a burst pipe somewhere and the water had been turned off. I managed to have a quick cold shower thankfully! I paid $80 a night (including tax), not sure what the rates are like for June though.

Priceline has a map feature and there is an area near Disneyland that is pretty much all walkable. And even those that may be a bit far to walk are on the ART line. Since there's just two of you that could be a good choice.

Look at the Quality Inns. The one near the PPH parking lot used to be less than $100, but I do think the prices have gone up.

We are staying at the Days Inn Maingate (on Harbor Blvd) in September. It's about a 2 km walk to DL gate - fine for us. ART stop is very close to the Motel. We got it on Travelocity for $40 US per night plus tax. It will likely be a little higher during your timeframe. Right nearby are several other motels for the budget conscious (like us). We have stayed at a couple different ones over the years, and though they are nothing to write home about - they sure save money and work for us.

another vote for the super 8 on katella- good breakfast, lots of places to eat nearby, it's walking distance, but the garden walk shuttle is nearby if you're so inclined.
anaheim maingate inn is decent too. it's right behind the mickey and friends parking structure, you can just walk to the tram. parking is very tight tho.

Another vote for motel 6...stayed there in November and it was perfectly fine. It's running about $90/night including taxes and fees if you use "vacaytime" code through orbitz. I have found that it seems you must prepay to use the discount code, but cancellation is free.
The walk is ok , but obviously farther than those across the street. Just a personal preference of whether it's worth 1.5 times the cost for a shorter walk. Still debating that myself for our next trip. We used ART a few times on the way home. We only used it once on the way to the park, but got stuck in Avenger's marathon traffic and it was awful...stuck on the bus for 25 minutes looking at the gate. Driver would not let anyone off (obviously for safety reasons, but still frustrating!) .

Thank you everyone for all your replies! I'm glad to know we have so many options to check out. I was feeling a bit discouraged by the hotel prices I was seeing before, but now I have hope.

I just booked the Desert Inn and Suites for $99/night in October. We usually stay at Tropicana but DI&S rate with parking and fees still saved us $150 over 4 nights vs Tropicana and the proximity is the same.
