I am in need of some ideas for a gift or gift bag items for 20 kindergarten kids. I looked on Oriental Trade but just not sure. I don't wan't to buy "junk" that will just be thrown away as soon as it arrives home. I was thinking of maybe ordering the $1.oo books that are in the scholastic book flyer but I'm not sure. I would like something small but fun for the kids. I love books but not all kids will be thrilled with a book!! Please help me think of something!!

Also in need of fun and simple games for the class party!!

I know all you creative dis'ers won't let me down!!!:goodvibes

Thanks!!!!!:santa:

I ordered the ornaments from Oriental Trading that you can personalize. They are snowmen. I used a fine point red paint pen and wrote the children's names on them. This is for my daughter's 4K class.

As a mom, Thank You... I am not a fan of all that Oriental "Cripple Crap" It's spending good money on cheap plastic "trash"

That said, my Kinder loves little notebooks, pretty pencils. Our pre-K used to use their scholastic points to buy books as gifts for the kids, and gift wrapped them all pretty. They were a hit... I assume they still are with Kinder as they are just now discovering they can read a few things on their own.

Playdoh..Target has "favor" size cans in a bag of like 20 or so for around $6...check either the stocking stuffer aisle (at our target that is with all the Christmas candy) or the birthday party aisle or the toy dept with the regular size playdoh.

The kinder kids loved those BIG pencils with crazy designs on them. Or even a coloring book, you can get those cheap.

Bubbles! You can get 12 small bottles for $1 at the Dollar Tree. Make a little tag to tie on with Christmas ribbon.

I am not sure if you're looking to get involved with making something, but one year a mom in my DDs class took advantage of a TON of crayons she had. She bought cheap mini muffin tins at the Dollar store and broke up the crayons and put them in the pan. Then baked them so they melted into a rainbow crayon. Then she glued them to a piece of card stock.

I thought it was a really cute idea and my DD thought the special rainbow crayon was cool:)

I am making Christmas ornaments. I just bought a box of red ones from Walmart that are shatterproof. I will tie on a thing green riboon. On the ornament itself I will write the childs name in a glitter gold pen and then the year and from my daughter. It is always a hit. Kids at this age love getting things with their names on them. I got the idea from one of the parents in my oldest sons class. We have 3 ornaments from this child and they go up on the tree every year. I will probably also place it in a clear plastic bag that you get at the Dollar Store for 20 for a buck and put in some bubbles or something like that.

Hi, I work at a school, and love to promote reading. So, my suggestion is to visit a second hand store. They have tons of childrens book that look brand new, and they are priced very inexpensive .25 to .50 per book. Sign a quick holiday message in the front and each child will have their own take home and keep book.

I just passed out goodie bags to a kindergarten class yesterday. At the Dollar Tree, they are selling 12-packs of Christmas/winter pencils, erasers, and resealable 10-packs of Santa goodie bags. All are $1. At our Micheals, they are selling 2-packs of these really cute Disney paper pads. They vary in style...Tink, Fairies, princesses, Cars, and Toy Story. I also added candy canes and santa-faced lollypops, from the Dollar Tree. The kids loved them!

Hope this helps.:)

Years ago I made these for kids in my son's classrooms every year and they all loved them as did the parents.
Buy those cheap ornaments that are unbreakable. I got the satin covered ones way back then, but not sure if they sell them anymore. I got blue and green since they looked the best with the way I decorated them.
I wrote the kids names with white acrylic about 1/4 inch wide and then using a very small brush I striped the white letters with red so they looked like candy cane stripes. I put the year on the back.
I do remember the parents asking each year if I was going to make another ornament since they loved having them for every year.
I gave the ones I made to my boys and at ages 33, 31 and 26, and they still hang them on their own trees.

I would not be allowed to do ornaments in my former district. This district is very sensitive about celebrating other cultures, religions and such. All winter holidays had to have no Santa, no reindeer, no menorahs, no Kwanzaa. All winter parties had to have a snowflake or snowman theme.

However, I did give out books last year and my kids loved them.

I LOVE THE ORNAMENT IDEA!!! I will probably also do a Christmas pencil for them. I knew you guys wouldn't let me down!!!!

Now I need game ideas!!!! Let the ideas come!!!:goodvibes

And as a public school teacher (1st grade, 20 years now) I would also like to thank you.

I detest that Oriental Trading crap & let my Room Moms know (in a nice way of course) that I prefer not to have that stuff at class parties.

I give my 1st graders a Math homework coupon every year.

**At our class parties, we make "Reindeer Food"....oatmeal with red & green crystals sprinkled in. There's a cute poem to go with it too, but it's at school in my classroom. I bet someone on here will have it.

I buy those little stockings sold everywhere after Christmas each year for 75%-90% off. I spend around 20 cents each. Then I use glitter glue to write each child's name on their stocking. I put little goodies inside--pencils, eraser, lollipops, tattoos, etc. This year, I bought a big lot of the curly shoestrings that keep your shoes on without being tied. A lot of my kids seem to have perpetually untied shoes, and I hope these will be a big hit. So they will get a pair of shoe laces, a pencil, a lollipop and a candy cane. I guess I spend about $1 per child.

I teach 2nd grade and I always give my students a gift certificate for a free Scholastic book. I make the certificates on my computer and then use my bonus points to buy the books. They like that because they get to pick the book they want, just put a limit of $3-$5 on it. I wrap it up with a pencil, bookmark, and other little things I can get pretty cheaply.

You guys are the best!!!

Now any game ideas??????????

How about a game of "Guess the present"...you wrap small items (like a candy cane, a pine cone, hershey kisses (1 for each child in the package so everyone can have one), etc. Then you hold up the wrapped gift. One child opens it behind a door or easel or something so no one can see. Then, that child gives clues to the item. Great way for them to practive lots of skills too!
Several rounds of this are a lot of fun!

great ideas! I need the reindeer food poem for our brownie meeting on Friday.
For a craft at the Holiday party, you could decorate gingerbread cookies. I bought a pack of 12 today at target for 4.00. It came with icing and sprinkles too.
