So, I've been looking for a budget friendly Tiana dress for my granddaughter. She is 3 and LOVES frogs and Tiana. I've looked at several but they are all so ....costume-y? I'd very much like to find a dress with suitable colors and put our own twists and touches on it to make it more like Tiana's. My granddaughter has settled on this one but I'm at a loss on what to add to it. I'm also not a fan of the white lol but it IS a gorgeous dress and wouldn't have that "costume" look to it. Trying not to spend an arm and a leg because she'll prob only wear it once.

Any ideas on how to make this more like Tiana?

Edit to add: She doesn't necessarily want to BE Tiana. She wants to be a frog Princess lol

Honestly, when my stepdaughter was little I got her a Cinderella nightgown for our summer trip. It was way more comfortable than a dress and looked just as cute. You might have a harder time finding Tiana since she's not the most popular or newest princess though.

I have noticed that Tiana is more difficult to find than the rest it seems. Mulan too. I'm rethinking the dress now since it has so much white on it. Really wish I could find a way to make it work though too. Arrrgh!

I would search on etsy! They have so many options, from replicas to inspirations.

Another DIS member told me about Little Dress Up Shop website. SUPER cute princess dresses priced cheaper than Disney. They are machine washable and don't have any glitter (huzzah!).

Little Dress Up Shop is awesome. Sign up for emails and they often send deals. Nice because variety of characters and sizes.

I will also recommend Little Dress Up Shop. We have 3 of their dresses and my daughter LOVES them. She hates anything itchy and I hate anything with glitter, so it's a win-win!

LOVE Little Dress Up Shop!

Here is the link to the Tiana dress:

We have it and it's the least "costume-y" of all the princess dresses we have. And most importantly, comfortable! Not scratchy or dropping glitter all over our house. And all their dresses are machine washable! The dress you linked appears to be $19.99, so by the time you factor in "add-ons" to doctor it up, it wouldn't cost much more to get this dress that you wouldn't have to do anything to. The website has free shipping with no minimum, and I believe they do a small discount if you provide your email address on your first visit.

I've actually bought from the Little Dress Up Shop AND Bonnie Dutch before and wasn't DIS satisfied with either (BD is local to me and she just started on FB). The Tiana dress is cute but still looks too costume-y to me and its actually more expensive than the one I linked. I'm looking for an actual dress dress, thats more 3D layers than everything just flat and colored the right way (hope that made sense). Someone in the FB group suggested I try to dye the dress from Bonnie Dutch but I'm not that brave lol. I may just keep shopping around. Also looking for a green shawl or small cardigan that might work with the first dress.

Have you checked ebay? Since she will just be wearing it once, a gently used dress could be a great affordable option.

Also check sites like Macys or JCPenney - they may have a good sale on fancy pastel colored dresses right now since it is just after Easter. They usually run 20% off coupon sales frequently as well.

I think you should be able to find a layered dress that is more green than the one you linked and that would make it look more like Tiana's dress overall. A green shrug or cardigan over the dress you linked could also help. But that is an added expense to consider as well. Not sure your total budget (other than keeping the price low).

Here are some option on Amazon that are reminiscent of Tiana's dress, but not a costume:
