In September, 2002, we did WDW for 7 days. We had several breaks and great deal fall in our laps. I had a 5 day PH. My honey still qualified for a FL play 4 days pass and we bought a one day admission for the other day. We had $49/night at the ASMu. We spent less than $100/day on food, but we blew the rest on goodies. We spent about $200 on film and developing. We spent $60 in gas. I spent $60 for pet care. And there was about $40 in various tips. I think that covered most of it. Overall, I think we spent around $3000, but we have some great collectables from that trip.
This December, we have a budget of about $5000. We have bought pins for trading. We have acquired a portable DVD player for the car ride. We have a rack rate of $77/nite at Pop Century. We will be there for 7 nights. We have 5 day PHP's. We have 2 different nights to do
MVMCP. We have prepaid the CP package. We will be seeing Wishes on a MK Specialty Cruise our last night. We have plans to do it all!
Could we have done the December vacation for cheaper, yeah, but we didn't mind spending rack rate for the room since it's our only chance to be an opening day guest of a WDW hotel. We didn't have to do MVMCP twice, but I wanted to be able to see it all without having to rush. We didn't have to do the fireworks cruise, but we did offer to share it with 8 others and have reduced the cost by splitting it among 10 people. I doubt that I will ever spend so much on a Value Resort stay at WDW again, but you only live once.
I am hoping that we can arrange to go back to WDW in early 2006. I expect to work every deal imaginable for that trip. I love WDW, but dang it's expensive. But, truth be told, it's so worth it. Maggie
