Budget for spending money

I think since most of the attractions let out in a gift shop, it's easier for kids to get the "I wants." DS was 5.5 when we went. He still never asks for things at home but when we exited Pirates of the Caribbean, he had to have a ball and chain. I would set a budget for souvenirs. To help with some of this, we took the kids' plush Disney toys from home so we were able to say you already have a stuffed Mickey in the room.

I also think that kids need to hear yes- especially on vacation. It increased all of our enjoyment to buy him that cheap little ball and chain because he was so happy with it.

We once got on a cruise only to realize my dad forgot to pack pants!

We do one "vacation present" per kid (and for ourselves too) and I don't include arcade and snack money in that budget, because we give about $20/kid for the arcade, sometimes more.

Emergency cash for things like Tylenol, Band Aids, or anything else that you need that you either forgot to pack or else didn't anticipate needing. My sister once went on vacation without packing underwear for one of her sons. I once forgot to pack a bathing suit for myself when we were vacationing at the beach. It happens sometimes. If you have a CC on hand to cover those things, then you'll be fine. Otherwise, make sure that you bring extra money for that kind of stuff. Some people also tip Mousekeeping. $1-$2 per person per night is pretty much the standard amount. If you kids like the resort arcades, you'll want money for that. And don't forget change for pressed pennies if you think you might want to collect those!

Ever since I forgot to pack underwear for vacation when I was 17, I've turned into a very particular packer. I have lists, first round checklists, second round checklists and final checklists lol.

We'll have a CC on hand, and it is 0% (yay!) but I'd like to avoid it as much as possible. I don't like coming home and having to pay off things from vacation, but sometimes things happen and you can't avoid it.

Do you know how much of a credit is included in the arcade voucher thats part of the vacation package? I know it's not that much, just curious since we never had it last time but this time I plan on using as much of that "free" stuff as possible.

I got my packet of info today. The arcade ticket says "100 play points".

On second thought.... I'm guessing the games there are probably 25 points a game, not 1 like our local Chuck E Cheese lol.
