budget floor cleaning-sweeper, vacuum, etc?

i have tile and will soon have hardwood floors. I don't currently have a vacuum cleaner because we don't have any carpet in our home. When last vacuum died, we didn't replace it.

I currently sweep and dust mop our floors but when the hardwoods go down i want something to vacuum our floors. What have you tried or do you have that works good and is budget friendly?

Thanks for any help.

I could have written your post. In the process of installing hardwood floors this weekend & I don't know the best way to clean them.

Swiffer? Some sort of steam mop thing (hopefully I can find a deal on black friday on??)

Doesn't help much with the vacuuming part of the problem, but every floor installer/refinisher I have had come by lately (it's been quite a few - don't ask!) swears by Bona. From time to time, they have it at Costco. I used it at our last house and loved it. Other than that, just vinegar and water. Nothing with wax or Murphy's oil soap. Looks great for a day, but does a number on your floors.

i'm going to use the boma method of cleaning the floors.

i'm interested in finding a good sweeper/vacuum thing. i hate to sweep and the dust mop thing is just so-so. i want something light weight to vacuum with before i boma the floors. we have a shop vac but it's so big and bulky to drag around.

My mom has hardwood floors and she has told me at least 4 times how much she loves her swiffer sweepervac.
