Budget Fast Break Program, how does it work at MCO

After my last car rental debacle at MCO, I decided to sign up with Budget and their fastbreak program.
It says you can skip the line.
Does this mean, you go straight to the garage outside to where the rentals are?

It’s been a while so my info might be out of date, but in my experience there is a seperate Fastbreak line so that you don’t have to stand in line with everyone. It’s sort of like the first class line in an airport check in. You get to “skip” many other passengers by having your own exclusive line. You don’t skip the process of paperwork it takes to pick up the car entirely but you do skip a lot of people who are checking in on the non preferred line.

Yes, you pick up your luggage at baggage claim (if you checked any) and then go straight to the garage (NB that involves going down to ground level 1, crossing the street to get to the garage, then going back up again to Budget). If Fastbreak is working well, your paperwork will be in a kiosk in front of the little office there. Pick it up and it will tell you which space your car is in. Walk over, load the car, and drive to the exit to be checked out. Easy Peasy. BUT if Fastbreak is NOT working well (for instance, when they were very short of cars), your paperwork will not be in the kiosk, and you'll have to check in with the office there in the garage.

However, don't you still have to go to the line if you've never rented before?
I don’t know - we had rented via Fastbreak at another airport before, so we just went to the garage at MCO and found our papers in the kiosk.

Any update on how the Fastbreak system is currently working at MCO? Do you go straight to your car if you have a Fastbreak number? I have an Alamo Insiders and if I rent from them I can go straight to the car if I put in all my info and print the agreement at home. Can I do that with Budget and Fast Break? I don't mind standing in a short line at the garage but I don't want to wait forever inside the terminal at Budget's rental car counter.

No, they print the paperwork and put it in the stand organized by last name if the system is working correctly. You then walk up, grab your paperwork and go out to your car, no interaction with anyone necessary. If it's not working well, you will have to wait in a much shorter and fast moving line in the garage for them to assign your car and give you your paperwork.

In January we got an email or text from Budget with a link that told us which car we had and the location in the garage. We found it, loaded it, showed the code to the attendant and were on our way. Easiest pickup we’ve ever had.

At MCO in January, we used Budget Fastbreak for the first time. Usually just rent from Alamo (Insider) or National (Emerald Club), but their rates were about twice as high. The garage office was sending all first-time Fastbreak users back to the counter inside the terminal. There was no separate Fastbreak line inside, so we had a 45+ minute wait, followed by a 20 minute upsell conversation with a very rude counter agent who insisted on seeing my proof of car insurance, then would not accept the standard insurance ID wallet card from my (well known and advertised national) insurance carrier and I also have secondary rental car insurance coverage through my annual travel insurance policy. I had to get a supervisor involved at that point just to get the paperwork completed. No wonder it was taking 20 or more minutes per customer at the counter. At least if I ever rent from Budget again, my information aphas been verified so I should be able to skip the counter.

I will be a first time budget fastbreak user, can I go to a local budget rental counter prior to my trip and get the "first time" stuff completed so I can skip the long lines on my trip?

Maybe, maybe not. The counter agent at the nearest Budget office to our suburban Chicago-area home was not willing or able to do this for me since I was not renting a car from his location. He said I would need to go to one of the Chicago airport locations. It wasn’t clear that he couldn’t do it or didn’t want to be bothered.
