Budget Family trip

Just got back from a wonderful week in Mexico at the Barcelo Maya Resort in Riviera Maya. It will be hard to top that place but we'd like to try something different this winter. We've been to Aruba, Grand Cayman, Bahamas, and Riviera Maya Mexico. Thinking about Dec or Jan. Any recommendations for a great place in the Caribbean? Anyone know where to get great weather at that time? Our budget is about $3,000 including air.

It's 4 people.... 2 adults and 2 kids ages 9,11. All inclusive would be great but not necessary.

What about a Disney Cruise in January? If you are flexible, that is often the time that they do kids sail free promos. Watch the web for deals. Our kids are crazy about cruising right now...we're on our 5th this summer!

I laugh at this because we did the cruise in Jan 2011 during kids sail free which I *thought* was going to be more budget. HAHA. I think total we spent about $4500-5000 (and we drove to FL). Just as a warning - LOVED it, but I don't see how you could do it for $3000. (Just my 2cents.)

I have been dying to go to Puerto Rico which has great beaches I read. You might be able to get cheaper flights and then rent a condo through VRBO or a site like that.

We got a 10 night cruise on HAl over Easter for $1800 for 2 adults and 2 kids 13 and11

We will pull our kids out and are close to JFK/LGA or Boston. A week is great!

Punta Cana has some great resorts also and you should be able to do it for $3000 for a family of 4. Beautiful beaches & weather.

I second Puerto Rico -- lots to do and many places to rent condos in both San Juan and other areas of the country. (We've been looking at condos by the Wyndham Rio Mar).
