BUDGET Car....Reviews please!

Hi I am hoping for some reassurance on using BUDGET for our car hire from MCO in Dec. We have used Dollar for the last 10 years and finally lost patience with them last time (2 hrs to clear Q and no car seats ?!?!?) Got a great deal through Budget, and always noticed their Q's or lack of! Though now wondering is it better the devil you know !

PERSONALLY, I would never use Budget again - I found their cars to be older and in poorer condition than Dollar and the turning point for me was waiting in a queue for over a hour for my car after the 10 Day Southern Caribbean cruise in Spetember 2006.

We used Budget last year and would use them again.

There was no queue when we got to MCO and the car we got was fine.

Returning it was really easy too when we got back to the airport on the way home so no compaints from me.

If you like Dollar why didn't you just join Dollar Express, its free and you go right to the front, fantastic service.

I have booked with Budget for the 1st time this August, saved £80 compared to Dollar. I have past Budget desks before and been empty and also past and busier than Dollar so you can't know until the day.

Found out about Dollar express from our villa owner after we had arrived, dont know why we didn't do it before. Is there a Budget EXPRESS ?
Last Nov was particually bad as immigration was the worst experience we have ever had and it took almost 2 hours to get from the plane to the desk and then the Dollar nightmare. landed at 17:30 got to villa on US 27 at 22:30.

I have booked my Budget rental thru USrentacar.co.uk, on the rental voucher is a reservation #, I have been told I can use the link below, enter details and go direct to the kiosk in the parking lot and miss the desk. I filled in details a few days ago and got email confirming with a few seconds. Will be trying on Friday see if it works.

Yeah Wayne, how did everything go? I am using Budget through us rent-a-car too. It was the cheapest (being under 25) that I could find

We used them last time (May) too and everything was fine. We always book the cheapest car and we got a Kia Optima which was very spacious and a joy to drive.

I used Budget (MCO) for the 1st time last year and had no complaints.
Straight down to the kiosk in the parking lot and within a couple of minutes we were on our way.

Do budget stock the 2dr econ car or will you get an auto upgade to a compact like Dollar and Alamo do?

Just got back this morning.
Rental was great, picked up at kiosk and bypassed the line which looked around 1 hour long. Keys were waiting for me. Booked Intermediate with free upgrade to full size 2 door. Looks like its same as Dollar don't stock(or very few if they do) 2 door as we got 4 door Pontiac GP, no idea what cat it is but we were happy with it, trunk fitted 3 suitcases, large wheelie bag, 2 laptop cases and camera case. Did just under 2,000 miles in 24 nights, had trip upto Savannah and Tybee Island Georgia, Daytona, Cocoa and Port Canaveral all problem free motoring. It had 16k on clock when we collected took it back with 18k.
Took it back yesterday morning no-one in line, made a change from Dollars return where we sometimes have had lines of cars upto 20 mins to return.
Would not hesitate using again.

Did you go to MCO or Sanford for Budget? If it was MCO did Budget have a dedicated office on site or was it off site like Sanford?

Also the reservation number was it the

PREPAID RENTAL VOUCHER # or

CONFIRMATION # or

some other number.

It was MCO, yes they are onsite with Dollar and Alamo etc but you have to go up a floor to get to them. You use CONFIRMATION #, mine ended in GB1. I had no problems, website accepted 1st try, I have heard others having problems registering.

I have avoided regular lines for 2 years now, this time with Budget and last few times with Dollar express, makes such a massive difference upto about 1 hour/ trip.

Thankfully never had the sales pitch since getting express card, its probably on record not to even bother wasting their breath

Thanks for all the info and the link Wayne, was the desk / kiosk easy to find? is it obvious where to go to avoid the lines? (once logging onto that site you gave us)
