My TA in the Uk had got me a deal on car hire from Budget which means I get an upgrade to a 'Premium' car what are these like and are Budget ok at MCO.
The last time I hired from MCO it was a very long wait in a queue at the counter but that was from Alamo.
If you join the Budget Fast Break program and link your reservation, you can go directly outside at MCO for your car and avoid the typical lines. There is a small kiosk there for you to pick up your keys.
As for the Preminum car, is this listed as your type of car on the reservation? We were supposed to get upgraded from a full size to a premium car with Budget on our last trip. Our reservation showed full size and it also listed a coupon code for our upgrade. When we picked up the car they told us they had no premiums left. So we had to take the full size. If you reservation says premium, I am sure they will have one for you though.
I think it depends what time of year you go. We always go in the least crowded times of year and never had more than 1-2 people in front of us. Maybe in summer and holidays it's worse.
Budget is one of the few onsite rental companies that don't charge $8-10/day for an addl. driver (as long as it's your spouse)
Renting from Budget at MCO is great. We've done so 3 times, and only once was there more than 1 or 2 in line at the counter. They are located in the parking garage (both A & B terminals) right outside of baggage claim. Incredibly easy.
I've always rented from Budget..and probably would again..BUT....I will tell you that the line when we rented last was snaking through the airport. It quite literally blocked pedestrian traffic. Wormed all over the place. People walked up to the line..and COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. There was only ONE clerk working. This was on May 19th at 11:00 am. Certainly they knew the amount of reservations expected for that day..and had only one employee. Finally..and I mean very slowly..others started to appear. There were those of us on line in front that waited for over an hour. We did have a very good rate that we found through www.mousesavers.com. Also..the day before I received an e-mail for a discount. I would definetly recommend getting the updates. I wound up renting a Grand Marquis(premium vehicle..we are 5 adult sized people) for a total of $238.00 including tax, for the week.
I will definetly sign up for the program where you can go directly to your car. Won't take a chance with that line again. Alamo line was next to us..and people were flying through. I did write and complain..and they sent me a coupon for $25.00 off our next rental.
