Budget Car Fuel policy?

Does anyone know if you can opt to decline to purchase fuel at the desk, and return the car with a full tank? We always do this with Dollar but this time Budget have come out cheaper, but want £29 extra for gold insurance, to me this is not worth it as I doubt a compact car will hold £29 of Gas, and we only need 1 driver.

Link to Budgets website for info you want. Its probably the most flexible rental company of them all.
http://www.budget.com/budgetWeb/htm...Does the cost of the rental include the fuel?

When we were there in August we had full size, at todays exchange rate it would cost around £35 for a tank, intermediate is not going to be far out at £29. Personally I would prepay in UK as I like to collect the car without anything to think about, don't want to be discussing fuel options and I also add DW to rental incase of emergencies.

Who you renting with? have you looked at USrentacar? Budget do free upgrades. We paid for Intermediate but got Full size. Only £2/day to upgrade to Gold.

Hi
Booked with usrentacar compact with free upgrade to an intermediate. I never pre-pay fuel as you always end up returing the car with fuel you have paid for. Usrentacar also wanted £29 extra for the gold which I thought was steep as there is only 1 driver. Have found out you can bring it back with a full tank, which is what I will do!

Cheers!

I think it depends which way you are happy doing it, financially its pennies in it. Intermediate might get you a Pontiac G6 with 16 gal tank, Hess today are charging $3.77/gal = £60.32. or £32.96 paying with fee free credit card. You can take the car back with one tenth of the tank full and still break even.

The prob is I know that I will not run the tank that low- scared I will run dry, ended up last time taking it back with over 1/4 of a tank left. On bigger cars that can mean quite a bit!

Leaving 1/4 tank is still only £4-5 worse by prepaying. I would prefer that to filling up on way to airport, but I love taking it back on fresh air, I have had warning lights and continuious warning sounds a few times now:)
Budget you should be OK taking it back full though, I have heard some others are insisting paying their price of around $6.50-$7.50/gal and no other option if you don't prepay. I would print off the wording incase you get an awkward rep.

like wayne have always pre paid, and always taken tank back empty(last time it was pingging)
Cheapsgagte side of me would rent a car for 2 seperate weeks thus avoiding filling up at all:thumbsup2

Considered doing that before. Especially on longer trips, when there for 25 nights its worth swapping cars halfway thru for another tank of gas. Never have though not worth the hassle for £25-30, although some would.
