I am so ticked off right now!!!

When we moved here, we need a vacuum before we could start moving in. Its been just under a year.

We bought a Eureka enviro vac because it is supposed to use 33% less energy, and be better for allergies and pet dander.

We only have one rug. And its not that big. I used this vacuum maybe, once a month, if that, because the carpet is in a room that we don't use all that often except for when we have company.

Well, I was vacuuming the area and the vacuum started smoking! I shut it off, took off the front plate, and the roller brush, the belt, the cover and the bottom carriage had all melted! The back engine is blown, and to repair and replace the parts is going to cost me just under $200!

I only paid 70 for the darn thing at walmart!
I will never buy this company again. They won't help me, and say I must go to a repair center. The closest one is in TX, we are in OK. A two hour drive.
The warranty for this vac is 90 days. I mean seriously, what kind of company won't stand behind their products? 90 days?!?

I have always wanted to get a dyson, for the floors, and the carpet. I've heard good things about them. Its just I am shocked at the prices of these suckers! (pun intended ;))

Thanks for letting me vent.:rolleyes1

I don't know if you shop at Kohl's but they put their Dysons on sale frequently. I also had a 30% off coupon there so I was able to get a $399 Dyson for $230. Still expensive but I love it.

I got my dyson on woot refurbished for $150. I love it!

Toss the Eureka in the trash and go get a Dyson. This is one area where you get what you pay for. Our Dyson is awesome. We did recently have to replace the hose, but we were able to easily order the part online and replace it ourselves. Splurge on the Dyson, you won't regret it!

when we get our taxes back, we will be getting one. I am going to price them at the PX on base and see if they are any cheaper than other places. Tax free, so that helps, too.

ETA: Oh, the Eureka is already in the trash!!! LOL

I still haven't learned my lesson. I always end up paying around $150.00 for a vacuum and it only lasts about three years before I end up throwing it away. I have gone through the Eureka's as well. I hate vacumming because I never know which brand to buy and they all end up being junk. I have bought Hoovers and even Dirt Devil's. Using the coupon at Kohls' sounds like a great idea. Maybe someday when this last one that I have completely breaks down I will break down and buy one.

I'd be frustrated if I were you too. i do know how you feel. I've gone the Sears route and have had to take mine to be fixed there a few times, the last one that I had, and they think nothing of keeping it for three weeks at a clip. My house is 80% rugs. I need to vacuum every couple of days, if not more often.

We have had our Dyson for 5 years and have never had a problem with it.....highly recommended you going for it!
