A good friend of ours called yesterday offering to sell DH his tickets for this weekend's game. He has 6 tickets at Wrigley but his son has a baseball playoff game. The tickets are $33/each but add in drinks, food, parking... and it will be a small fortune. I told DH to take our two older girls and I will stay home with the youngest. I can't imagine trying to deal with that crowd and DD in her wheelchair. His sister and dad are going as is my nephew so our part of the bill will be much less than I thought at first.

Now, if the weather will just be like it is today, they'll have a great time!

Congrats on the tickets. Some things are just worth busting the budget over and tickets like that are one of them!

I much rather bust the budget doing family stuff together than buying more things that I don't really need.
Have a great time, you're daughters will remember it for a long time.

Go Cubbies!!! I have been to Cubs vs. Sox games and there is nothing like it. $33/ticket is a good deal too. Sorry to hear you aren't going but your family should enjoy themselves. Hope the weather hold out!!!!::yes::

Wow! Add in airfare between Boston and Chicago for all of you and you're STILL probably getting off cheaper than if you were buying the tickets for a game at Fenway!!! Many Sox fans travel around the country to see the team at away games - it simply doesn't cost as much! It is great to attend games at Fenway, but wow...the tix are pricey! $33 each is a steal...just like my buddy Jacoby Ellsbury will do against the Cubbies! (For those who don't know/care...he is an exceptionally fast Sox runner and base stealer - and a cutie to boot!) Hope your family has a great time...and the Red Sox win!

I think she's talking about the WHITE Sox (they are playing the Cubs this weekend).

Is there another Sox team, other than the red variety? Ha!

Sorry! (The Red-colored Sox got clobbered tonight against the National League Phillies - watching pitchers try to bat must have clouded my mind! It was not a pretty sight...)

We often go to Citizens Bank Park to see the Phillies. Luckily, they allow you to bring in your own food and beverage. As long as it isn't in glass or is alcohol. We pack water and sandwiches and chips. Unfortunately, they don't allow that in their minor league stadiums. :confused3

$33 per ticket is a good deal. We are going to the Sox - Cubs games the following weekend at U.S. Cellular and our tickets are $50 each. :faint:

Our friend is selling us the tickets at face value. They are Terrace Reserved along the first base side. The only problem is that the elevator is on the opposite side of the park so my FIL will have a long walk to the seat. DH offered to bring a wheelchair (we kept my dad's after my dad passed away earlier this year) but he refuses to use it! :headache:

This same friend also has tickets at The Cell that he offered to share with us, but I'm not sure I want to go there in our blue showing our support the better team. :rotfl:

$50 is face value for us too. Yeah, I wouldn't want to go to Wrigley either, I personally don't like that stadium at all. It is way too crowded. Now, US Cellular, that's a friendly stadium. We just took my FIL, who is in a wheelchair, this past Sunday for Fathers Day and it was convenient to get around.

As far as supporting the "better" team, you can say that after you win one of these: :bitelip:

Love the picture!! -- we had pictures taken with the trophy when it was at the US Cellular store on 75th & Lemont in Darien. WOW!!!! :cool1: We were at the Cell on Saturday night and it is always fun -- can't imagine going to the Cubs/Sox game -- what a rivalry!!

Again -- GO SOX!!!:)

$33 a pop??? Heck, I'd be alllll over that. I used to go to those games every year when I was a kid, when it was called (what was it?) Crosstown Classic? I still have a mug, a key chain and a T-Shirt from those games. Tony LaRussa and (whoever the Cubs dude was)

ANd I leave you with this:

I wish that I knew how to attach a picture to my post. A few years ago when the Cubs were in the playoffs, I came home from a girls weekend to find the Cubs logo spray-painted in our front yard. DH had gotten the girls to help. They used string to make the circle and DH free-handed the logo inside. He had to keep repainting it every time he cut the grass but it lasted for weeks. The neighbors joke that a news helicopter was going to think that it was a landing pad and land in our front yard instead of in the airport the our house backs up to.:rotfl:

Of course, this neighbor is a Sox fan and didn't get the joke when DH left a broom on his front porch last year with the Cub's logo attached after the Cubs swept the Sox. :rotfl2:

Awwww! That's cute. I would have taken my dog over to do his business on it.

:rotfl2: Just kidding! I do not have a dog.

That cubs shirt my son is wearing.... a friend of my husbands gave it to him. It was 'normal' before we got it. He gave it as a joke, knowing he wouldnt wear a Cub's shirt..... so we altered it. :rotfl: We actually have before and afters:

Trust me, if you go to US Cellular in Cubbies blue, you'll fit right in at Crosstown. We have gone several times and I am part of a mixed marriage. Hubby is a sox fan and I am a Cubs fan. Its a fun day with both sides there.
