Budget buster - - BRACES!!!

dd12 got her braces on in April. I didnt think she needed braces because she has striaght teeth. Turnedout she has an overbite and her tooth teeth protused. She aalso got a herbts to helop bring lower jaw forward.

total cost 24 months treatment plan
braces $4463
insurance covered $1500
my total $2963
----------------
downpayment $263
my cost for payment plan $2700 and i pay $100 a month. I have a flex account so the money will be reinbursed:cool1: $1200 per year

if you have a flex plan use it. Can braces be used as a tax medical write off because it for medical reasons? Tax lady told me accupuncture and chiroprator fees can be.

The real budget buster is when you finally get them paid off. Then just as you're thinking whew, so glad that is over, DD loses her retainer and you have to come up with 590.00 to replace it! :sad2::sad2::sad2:

See what the doctor offers as far as payment options. With our ortho (the bill was 4800) they allowed us to make 3 payments over 3 years since our son needed 3+ years of braces, perhaps your ortho does the same thing, and on top of that there was no interest of any kind.

Course now the same child needs his wisdom teeth out next month and it's 2700.00, insurance is paying next to nothing.... figures...

Did you check your medical insurance?? Lots of folks are saying their medical insurance is covering it.

Our insurance covers nothing for orthodontics BUT did cover 50% of "elective" removal of adult teeth.
